You’re so sweet to take care of your man. You know he misses you while you’re gone. I’m impressed with your foundation and I imagine a harmonious home. I don’t understand how people can make you defend compassion and consideration for your husband. When we sat down for dinner as a family every night, our mom served my father the tenderest, best cut of meat. She said it was because of all he did for us every day. He worked hard and did without so we could all have what we needed. He loved hearing those words. In turn he would tell us that we needed to always do the right thing, behave and get good grades to make our mom proud. That she worked so hard to feed us well, take care of us, the house, our clothes, etc. They were mutually appreciative of each other. We were acknowledged and praised for doing well, and expected to do well even if there were no witnesses. Our parents taught respect and dignity for all. And yes, Mom worked a full time job on top of taking Care of the kids and house. Dad took care of the yard, the outside of the house and the vehicles. They did it their way. I never heard a name called, I never heard bickering between my parents. Mutual respect and consideration is the foundation for love. We need to get back to that.

I love making food for the ones I love and especially for my husband. Always pack lunches for him and I cook meals for my elderly grandfather. It's my love language! I've had people tell me it's not the 50's anymore so I don't have to pack lunch or cook every night. A lot of women(myself included) take pride in being the sole member feeding their family and/or keeping household chores done, regardless if they work for a living as well or not! My spouse always cooked before and I had to pry him out of the kitchen lol. He's more than capable of cooking and I've told him, if he REALLY wants to sometimes he can. However, cooking and making lunches for him is something I take pride in and without doing that, feel like I'm slacking or being lazy. My Mum passed away on Boxing day 2020 and my Dad coukd make things like scrambled eggs so I stepped in and cooked for him every night because I love him and I was always very close to my parents. I loved back in with them when it was medically unsafe to live alone. The three of us were very close and looked after each other. Thirteen months and one day after losing Mum I found my Dad unexpectedly passed away in his sleep. I reckon it's because women have historically been delegated the homemakers, that when we finally have a choice not to be, it seems weird to some that you would CHOOSE to.
