I packed for many years. You don't want to use so much dunnage that the packages become "pregnant". Makes them harder to stack which means more likely to fall over or fall off a stack of packages during shipping. Also, if a heavy package is placed on top of your pregnant package it puts the load on the contents which can crush the product you're trying to ship.

@SailorMoonFan926 ай бұрын
In time, the plastic cases will become brittle and shatter, paper inserts will yellow and fade and the discs will succumb to disc rot. Not much point buying physical to preserve, they need to be ripped digitally and stored on the internet, which pretty much every game in existence already is.
@ElusiveTy6 ай бұрын
There is a movement that does this but preservation is mostly digital, that's how we've preserved many things (not just games). I do think the physical copies should be saved from being thrown out before their time but in terms of longevity, digital preservation is the best we know of.

@@SailorMoonFan92 heres the thing though, these items really do last for a really long time, theres still many items that were made in the 70s and still work to this very day, theres people that even manufacture parts to restore these items, just look at what they do with psps, its fascinating, you can literally restore it back to nearly new condition, anyways this is about preferences, im all for emulation and digitalization of everything, but having this as an option is great as well and important, i understand your point about rot, but its not very common, it can happen yes but its not something crazy as the red ring of death, in fact its kinda rare, i have about 200 cds of content and vhs tapes and not one has rotted, cds and tapes made in the 80s and 90s!

Just got recommended this like five minutes ago, and I'm impressed. Started gaming in 98 at 8 years old. I never sold my games and/or put them away somewhere i can never get to them. They're still in my room of my house. Married with kids old enough below ten. My wife is the same. Started a year after me and never stopped. She kept hers too and when we saw each other's collection a decade ago, we told ourselves we need to put them all into one separate room where we can play. Fast forward three years ago we got a house that can provide just that. Everytime i see game trailers and gameplay stuff, old and new mind you, i always pause and go to the comments first. I always without fail see a comment where they say that they wished they still play these games. And i wonder, "did you sell away your old games and made way for the new?" or something that goes along those lines. If you still have them, why bother making a comment precisely implying such a thing. If you say money is tight and have different priorities then i can somewhat understand (i say somewhat because that's a very broad spectrum if you think about it). Or you really did want to let them go to make way for the new shiny thing. You can learn to manage your time like i did. Everyone is diffferent but i got a routine and I've stuck to it since getting my job as a factory worker a decade and a half ago. And even more tighter as a parent and husband. It's not that hard to do. Takes several minutes to longer than to accomplish, depending on your current lifestyle. Just two days ago I played War of the Monsters, it's a 3D fighting game about monsters and robots and stuff and your arena is literally a sandbox playground where anything is interactable and can be thrown to your enemy for damage. It's awesome. Only played for an hour but i got my time in so I'm not really complaining about it. Two weeks before that i was playing God of War. No not Dad of Boi, God of War. And a month before that Rayman. Yeah, Rayman. How about that.... For the gamers who plays recent games and wanted to go back because of the statements above, you are alot. Like alot alot. But for a few like myself who never really did the things stated above, i commend you. Something to think about. I may be talking as if I'm a bad apple, I'm not i can assure you. It's been weighing heavily on me for about five years and it got really strong during the peak of COVID. I'm not saying you're bad for selling old games and making way for the new ones. I'm saying you didn't need to do that to feel nostalgic. I have my nostalgia cozily at home waiting for me to choose them for a half hour to an hour. Now i know that's abysmal for playtime, but i do have different priors now than back then. Could have made streaming work? Maybe, didn't try but i didn't consider it either. Could have balanced work life and stream life? Maybe, a tall order to be sure but i believe it could be done. I didn't consider though but it could have worked if i tried it. Sorry for the novel, but like i said, it was weighing on me for some time. Much love and respect.

I like to look through certain genres of different systems to see what stores offer, and most of the ways i buy are titles that catch my attention. i never knew some of the games existed, and i researched before buying. @fern8655 I would assume like many warehouse distribution centers. You are able to print out the lists of items that are going out to the buyer. In the warehouse I worked at we had an invoice that would have the tracking numbers for each items, zones for certain items (A-Z), section by row with numbers 1-10, 11-20, 21-30(sometimes the sections starting from top-across would be listed as 1A..2A..3A..4A..and so on) then the 2nd row to the bottom would be 1B..2B..3B and so on. Then as you get use to the locations. You could literally take a look of the invoice and memorize the location, by zone, number, row and pick the items up in fast paced manner. I was such a fast Picker and Packer! 😆

I bet even youtube doesn't know why it recommended me this video. Super satisfying though.

This video makes me feel that every video game that was made for a certain console, should be played there to feel original. The feedback of the keys and the physical materials are part of the experience.

As someone who works dispatching orders, I really appreciate the effort put into making sure the items are not bumping around the box! 👏

You don't need all that paper that is shoved in last. Making your packages "pregnant" isn't better when shipping

Cheap tape and overstuffed packages? Hard no, but go off I guess😂

I work unloading trailers at ups and I just want to applaud you for packaging so well. Some of these companies do not care at all about the quality of packaging and things will get damaged or lost because of it.

You would know then that the paper shoved in at the end is not necessary. 😂😂😂

"Packaged so well"??? With that cheap tape their using? That tape hardly sticks on anything, plus adding that brown paper in those packages overstuffs them, making them prone to falling over when loading them into a trailer. But go off I guess😂
