Hey Baylee, I am a colouring book channel and collector. My current collection is over 260 books. If you want to talk to someone in your research who actively buys colouring related merchandise (and can even show you various examples without you having to purchase) please feel free to use my knowledge. I'd LOVE an actual colouring book of your art - pdfs are great, but there is something special about an actual book of an artist work and I am a person who buys a book over individual sheets.

I was the one who wrote the note about my cat, Spicy! I'm really glad that you got the kick out of it. I was having a really bad day yesterday so seeing that really made my day. Can't wait for the package to come. I'll certainly take a picture of the doodle with my cat when I get the package - which is currently scheduled to be delivered on Halloween!

Having done a few types of binding during my time working at Staples copy center, I’d recommend spiral binding if you plan on DIYing 😉 It’s the most customizable for size and definitely more user friendly. Alternatively, hit up your local Staples copy center and they can bind books for you for a small fee.

A tip for working with water soluble stabilizer❤ When done stitching tear off the excess and then spray with a little bit of water. Use the excess or bits of off cuts of the actual wss and pat it over top of the stitch out. It sticks to itself instantly and makes it sooooooo much faster to get off.

I’ve published 16 coloring books (8 different collections in both Left-Handed and Right-Handed printed editions) as well as digital downloads for those collections and additional ones. I was one of the first if not the first to publish left-handed coloring books. I’m working on a few more; two are timely but I’m falling behind. I have also printed my own, but that didn’t last as long. So yes to top-bound books or having two editions and changing the binding if you make your own. For the printing my own and why I haven’t: I had to quite doing in person events, so that limited sales. The card stock I was using was great for that, but they quite making the paper and other companies I tried weren’t as good. I use a laser printer as so many ink printers use soy or walnut ink (I’m deathly allergic to both and they are major allergies for others). You have to be careful the toner doesn’t rub off and I have had some issues with that. I have a RubiCoil Manual Binding Machine (spiral binder manual punch) by Akiles. It has a hunter green metal base, black metal handle, and cream plastic cover. You can adjust it to a variety of lengths of papers to punch 4:1 pitch holes (6mm). There is a drawer that slides out and has the paper that is punched out. Makes large confetti. Punching a sheet of aluminum foil helps keep it sharp. I’ve been using it for umpteen years, the better part of two decades. Automatic binding machines cost much more and were trickier, plus less versatile. I’ve bound coloring books, notepads, books, booklets, calendars, and more. Thousands of projects over the years. I highly recommend it. I used plastic coils made by Spiralmakers. They made lead-free plastic coils for binding. I haven’t used up my supply yet, so I’m not certain if they are still selling, but there are others. I also had covers made using my printing press that makes my prints and postcards. Then I’d just cut and punch those to fit and use them for front and back covers. I will say unless it is special water color paper, some folks kind of prefer a folder of images or a regular coloring book rather than spiral bound. Personally spiral lets you roll the page around, but to get a water color paper coloring book made is pretty expensive. If you decide to go through the publishing process or want to see what the books are like, let me know.

You should check out the Cinch coil binding machine for your coloring books. You can choose the length of the coils and it has the paper punch included. I believe you can also buy half sheet sized paper by the reams.

Just a thought, have you ever considered putting curtains over the big storage shelves to “cover” the busy space? I have two shelving units attached to my bedroom wall and I hung curtains to cover them when I wanted my space to feel more “clean” - not saying it’s a bad thing, just saying that I found it useful! Sheer curtains could provide some coverage without blocking everything completely. I just thought perhaps it could make the product shelves feel less “busy” 😂 hope that makes sense and I’m not trying to come across as rude! Busy doesn’t mean chaotic, your shelves are organized nicely. 😊
