PACKING UP MY ENTIRE APARTMENT | cleaning out my bathroom & decluttering

I’ve moved roughly 40 times in my life. My main tip is to use the smaller boxes for heavier items like books and dishes. Larger boxes are for lighter things like pillows and bedding etc. If you pack heavy things in really large boxes, it’s hard to carry and the weight can cause the box to possibly burst open while being carried or handled.

The first time I moved a friend gave me a box of contractor bags - she told me they work great - She was so so right. Basically a roll of big trash bags made of very thick gauge plastic. VERY cost effective too - at Home Depot, Lowes, maybe even Walmart. They can hold a lot of weight without tearing so just fill them up with a comfortable weight & spin the unused top for a handle or just fill them to the top with clothes, towels, etc. The longer the amount of time adhesive is attached to walls the more it sets & solidifies, becomes less pliant, and can pull paint away. The heat from a hair dryer helps to soften the adhesive so less chance of damage from adhesive that has set for long periods of time. You sneezed - BLESS YOU!

You can put pillows in a vacuum sealed bag! Then they’ll take up wayyy less space and you might not feel pressured to get rid of them

If your ever scared of contact paper ripping off paint a hair dryer will help. Contact paper sticks using glue and glue melts when heat is applied. Soft glue will not do damage hardened glue can do bad damage.

Just a few more thoughts on hair dryers and wallpaper. The longer the adhesive has been on the harder it sets up. Even the highest setting on dryers may take forever if it works at all on some projects. Heat gun - think hair dryer on steroids, at probably the same cost, and they do have a lot of other uses. Looks the same but will burn your head . Wallpaper & even adhesive flooring removal. Unfreezing locks, loosening tight or rusted bolts ... Thermal expansion - like pouring hot water on a jar lid to make it easier to open. Make toast, sear steaks, & roast coffee beans. They have a lot of other uses too - drying hair is not one of them though - just sayin! LOL!

Also how does Marley hair not get everywhere? or do you comb her all the time? curious as i know someone that has that kind of cat and find that their fur goes everywhere but your clothes and furniture never looks like its covered in hair?
