This is a nice run from the South Fork bridge, back to the road bridge. The film is just below the first driveway bridge to the culvert. Make sure and note the two, MUST portages. Note the absence of the upper log bridge and Moon's homestead bridge. Both sections are improved. Note the leaning tree at the top of Triple Drop, it will come down some day, be prepared, always look.

Great flick. Thought about the upper upper part of this stream many times when hiking to Symphony Lake, but wondered if there is ever enough water in it to float a packraft or hardshell. The latter would be hard to carry. As to your locations, I'm not sure, if I got those correctly. I know where Kenn Moon's homestead area is, but am not familiar with 'the bridge'. So then, did you run from that part where the access road to the trailhead crosses the stream or higher up than that? Looks like a bit of work with a chainsaw and a come-along would make much of it safer. I did such work on Bird Creek about 30 years ago to enable running that again, but haven't been in a WW kayak in 25 years. However, recently got a packraft similar to yours, yes, red too, and feel an urge to try it out. Back in those days I did also explore the run from the highway bridge, below which you took out, and found some rather horrendous steepness, most likely not fit for WW boating, but nowadays, where every kid has a GoPro, nothing seems impossible.

Danny, Love the ride you made!! I'm planning my first packrafting experience from Anchorage this summer of 2015 with the Alaska Kayak Center. I'm an experienced canoeist and have done a few oared rafting trips. I understand that the packrafts are much more stable than kayaks. Can you venture an opinion as to whether I would be ready for the trip you show after six days of packrafting?

Were you paddling your front yard river again solo, Danny?

Unfortunately it looks like this river will not have enough water to run this year due to the least amount of snow in recorded history. While packrafts are more stable in some ways, in others they are less stable. They do like to wheely. An aggressive, leaning forward approach to holes is recommended.
