Very eye-opening and enlightening interview. I agree, this is their best one yet. Raw, honest and no-holds-barred. Glad we got to hear from Erwin’s perspective. Kudos to this man behind the band. Everyone of us meron naman talaga facade. How you present yourself at work, to your clients is very different how you present yourselves to your friends , which is also v ery different how you present yourselves to your children, parents etc... As an example: if you are very expressive and a regular curse word user with your friends... you won't be that person if you are in public with your clients? with your children? Gigi is just 27 or 28 yrs old now. But she started doing singing gigs in events (debuts, weddings, company parties etc) at an early age of 13/14 yrs old. When she reached her twenties her mom got/still sick with cancer. She never had a chance to truly face who she wanted to be. Now with the comfort and blessings that her singing has brought her, she has slowly come out of the shadow of childhood and is now an adult that knows what she wants. Whether its to our liking or not is up to our own preference. As a fan, I'm with her (you Gigi)!! She may change her mind what she wants in the future but as long as its not stopping the music its ok too!!!

Gigi's honesty, simplicity, and humbleness are still intact. We have personalities that never really changes but grows and adapts with life's experiences, and Gigi had her share and more will come. There is a complex side to her, and to do what she's doing requires being uninhibited and fearless. These are parts of her personality that she is freely sharing with the public. Some can't accept what they see because they idolize her so much and don't want her image to change. They have to understand that being in the entertainment business requires being strong and free to express yourself. The fans that are hurt the most are also the ones that love her deeply. They will get over it😊

Gigi, you initially portrayed yourself as a sweet girl with a beautiful voice and I believe most of the fans who followed your journey, including me, liked and loved you for that and it's only now that I came to know that it was only a facade. What they are seeing now was not they expected from you and we can't blame those who got disappointed. There was no authenticity in the first place. I was one of those who got confused with your transformation but as a true fan I kept it to myself so as not to distract you with all your commitments. I continued to embrace and support you and the band because you all are a bunch of talent. I find satisfaction and truly enjoyed your performances. It's a matter of perspective. She had to do what she had to do due to contractual obligations. People should also appreciate that she did went thru the fire to make changes and grow. We have to admit that when the band is known normally the lead singer goes single and wanted to have a name for her/himself. And we know Gigi can do that no matter how good the rest of the band is. Even if they will get a new singer once nasimuan mabaklas parati n ganyan. It is a matter of mind set pa din Lalo na kapag highly talented Ang bawat Isa, d mawawala Ang angas. They need to acknowledge each other that they are equally important. Nobody is lesser than the other. Gigi though understand that though she knows pwede cya sumikat n cya lng tpos kanya lng talent fee but she also knows that she is at her best when is is with the band. Di Naman sya lugi sa band Niya Kasi highly skilled din mga Kasama Niya from drums, keyboard, lead and base guitars equally talented. So you heard she has an attitude from someone else? That’s called hearsay. One should know better than to judge a person based on someone else’s perception. It takes more than one meeting to truly get to know a person. For all we know, that so-called celebrity friend may have only crossed paths with Gigi once and didn’t have any deep connections or conversations with her and maybe “assumed” she had an attitude. Not everyone shows their true persona from the get-go. Some people are guarded when they first meet someone because they are either anxious or uncomfortable in social situations (yes, even celebrities get anxious) and oftentimes, so many people are quick to judge and take being “guarded or anxious” as having an “attitude”. That’s not fair to the person who is being judged, like Gigi. Don’t rely on rumors and gossip from others as your source of someone’s character. Get to know the person in-depth and make your own opinion based on facts, not hearsay.

No, the contract LA didn’t want to get involved with was a side-business the band wanted to start together and LA wasn’t comfortable with it. The contract with ABS-CBN/Star Music was for her management and record label which they felt was very restrictive as to what they wanted to do as a band.

It's entirely possible that Gigi has needed to reinvent herself, her vocal abilities having been reduced after developing nodules. If that is the case then all is forgiven. However it is difficult to understand the change of music and persona for any other reason. She spent the last three years building a fan base through you tube and concert appearances. The fan base she built is largely composed of older, more conservative people who really fell for her classic renditions. Many saw in her all the virtues they identify as their own. Many of her older fans now feels betrayed. Ninety-seven percent of her fans at the sold out San Diego concert were Filipinos, who are generally conservative in both politics and culture. Many that I spoke with after the show will not come back. They wanted to see and hear he Gigi they knew, and the current incarnation is absolutely not what they signed up for. While Gigi may find a broader, less Asian fan base through her current version, she must understand the risk of losing what she built is very real. I wish her well, she is generally a lovely person and I applaud how she has lifted herself, her family, and many of her friends out of mundane poverty. I just hope she understands the risks....

I manage artists and a lot of factors come into play about branding and packaging. From what I've seen , she was under a contract that required her to stay within the boundaries of what corporate wanted and dictated. People change, and she took steps to search within who she really is as an artist and as a person. Not everyone will agree on her current iteration and how she is now , but there is no substitute for the real thing.

This band is evolving artistically and destined for more great things. Gigi can easily cast a shadow on other singers, even great ones. Her bashers and haters are insecure about their idols being in her shadow. Bashers and haters are a sign of success and recognition. Long live this tight, world class band. Gigi is one of a kind, and she's lucky to have a band she loves so much. They are inseparable.

I never realized how much of a social stigma tattoos are in the Philippines. You never see such disparaging comments about having tattoos in the comment section of western artists, ever. But in almost every video where Gigi’s tattoos are on display, so many people feel compelled to express their distaste. It’s so unfortunate and I’m sorry Gigi has to put up with it. I think they’re beautiful, tasteful and expressive. Great interview, great band.
