@swiffstep hes a pure fighter, sure...but all people have different physiological attributes they are born with...not every dedicated guy can just move up like that...there's some nature involved to a certain degree, definitely...

Best analysis so far. Clottey did what he could within his style. He takes what the Offense gives him and, he did it in this fight, it was just not enough. A defensive fighter first protects themself. The fight was boring for that reason because, he did not open himself up to be knocked out in accordance with his strategy as a defensive fighter.

let me also add that although Manny intentionally exposed himself at times, there are still moments that he's really exposed on his defense's weaknesses. So we pinoys shouldnt be really over-confident that he can easily win against floyd, but rather help pacman prepare to be as better as ever (especially on defense) for maybe his most anticipated fight, since floyd will be his most difficult opponent.

I don't understand Clottey: he wants to beat the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world and gets his title, he wants to win the fans of boxing whom most are Pacquiao's fans...yet, he comes to the ring refusing to fight! I felt so sorry for the boxing fans who paid to watch a fighter who doesn't even deserve to be in the ring with Pacquiao.

@purenergy01 I agree..im a pacman fan but when i saw the clean punches of clottey, mayweather will surely capitalize them together with his tough defense. If mayweather can block/dodge his weird shots and then do those clottey-like punches, he'll win. Pac should train to have improved defense so he can avoid these clean punches (well, he can improve more since he learns from every fight) and also be aggressive at the same time on all weird angles.

pacquiao never ducked floyd. floyd ducked pacquiao. i hate to read these comments saying floyd will beat pacquiao. clottey was clearly the bigger man and this fight showed pacquiao isn't taking performance enhancing drugs. floyd will fight just like clottey covering himself for 12 rounds. floyd better be ready for pacquiao if it happens in november. floyd must get by sugar shane first.

I know everyone wanted to see clottey throw more punches but he never really got hit only on the arms and gloves, if it were a olympic fight clottey would have one by clean effective punches-this is a true fact, clottey didnt convince the judges that he deserved a win over pacquaio and pac deminstrated his eagerness to defend his title-this is fact, one more fact--pacquaio got exposed

@kashimkashim1 It is better than floyd. Floyd uses more footwork though and has better counter ability. Reason why pac couldnt land as much shots is because clottey was defending the whole time. Pac WANTED clottey to throw so he can find openings. I think thats pacs gameplan vs mayweather. Pac fighting clottey was pacs test on how well he could do against a good defender. Thats all the fight was made for. O and if he could beat a legit welterweight. And he did.

@sycomantz Tell Pac to "take the test"? Manny agreed to more testing for that one fight with Floyd than for any fight in boxing history. Like Kellerman said after the fight "Floyd doesn't want to fight THIS Manny Pacquiao". I like Evendander Hollifield's approach to the testing issue. He said he wanted Tyson (who accused him of steroid use) to think he was juicing. Let him think what he wants. Pac should do the same. Like Roach said, the fighters do their job...let the commision do their's.

@RLiz08 He fought Clottey because he's the best opponent in the division that wasn't fighting someone else. Shane was fighting Berto until 2 weeks after the Clottey fight was made. Floyd wouldn't fight him and he had just beaten Cotto. Only a Gayweather fan would make an accusation suggesting Pacquiao somehow avoids quality opposition. GayW's spent half a decade in a division with guys like Cotto, Marg, Clottey, Shane...and hasn't fought ANY of them while Pac is smoking them. Typical. lol

Clottey averaged throwing just 33 punches per round, and landed less than 9. That's pathetic. Somebody should have reminded him before they rang the bell in the first round that boxing is a "combat sport". His corner did an interview during the fight and said he was scared. lol Even if that's true...badmouthing your boss to the world while he's getting his ass kicked is probably a bad career move.

Antonio Margarito? he says he can beat Pacquiao...coming from a year of suspension for plaster wraps in his gloves before his fight w/ "Sugar" Shane...might be wise to give him one more chance..well, in my opinion Pacquiao can beat him... Shane Mosley? maybe, after beating GAYweather...that's right, GAYweather..."Sugar" IS too much for Floyd....he can beat Floyd "CRYBABY" Mayweather, Jr.
