Are sleeves required when making connections on the low voltage side? And are two people required when working inside these dead front transformers if all you are doing is making connections on the low voltage side?

I wonder why you need a high-voltage connector for the supply neutral wire?

Ummmm if your system is 7200/14kv then there is 7200v on that single phase elbow, not 14kv. 14kv would be phase to phase voltage on your system. 7200v is your phase to ground voltage. Figured I’d educate you on your own system since you seem to not know lol

How much it will cost to move a pad mount transformer 4 ft from its location? They put right on my front door, 1 ft from my egress path of my front door.
@TheWackyRigger2 жыл бұрын
probably depends on where you are and if the power company will be nice enough to do it, those transformers will probably feed more than just your house, so it may affect your neighbors power too, not a lineman but an electrician that has been caught in instances where power has been relocated due to the resident complaining, once again i dont know if every power company will do that but you could call the power company that is listed on your meter on your house, ask them if they can do it and if they can see what you have to do from your end

Came here to try and figure out why the same pad mounted transformer keeps blowing every 3 months in my neighborhood.
@Impedancenetwork3 жыл бұрын
Why is the fuck would you think you would find that answer ANYWHERE on the internet? Lots of reasons can cause a transformer to fail but the most common reason is a series of phase to phase or line to ground faults that keep heating the transformer to the point of mechanical failure of the windings. The actual failure mode of the windings are just too many to enumerate. The first one could have blown up 3 months after install because the transformer was faulty from the manufacturer or the technicians installed it incorrectly or damaged it during install. I mean the list goes on and on. Don't depend on this fuck-tard to explain that to you.

@johnclyne63502 жыл бұрын
@@cnftnf Actually it’s company policy where I work. The expression is “lock to lock”. Rubber gloves from the moment we cut the disposable lock to installing the new disposable lock. A coworker opened a 3 phase pad once years ago & the energized elbow was off the bushing well. Hence why the customer was reporting part power. As he opened the high voltage compartment the elbow slid out of the “flower pot” & fell onto the other energized elbows. A high energy flash ensued & if he had not been wearing his rubber gloves? He might have been electrocuted. Remember electricity follows ALL paths to ground. Even through a moist human body touching a steel cabinet.
