Man, that nice! Everyone was smokin' on this one, but Walter really set the tone with the opening solo.

Ah, oui, Padam. For the English-speaking population "Padam" is a deformation of the word "Paname"- which is the slang name for the city of ... Paris! It was, and still is, the name used by true popular Parisians- usually people born in the city. The song immortalised by Edith Piaf- the "little sparrow" in the early sixties is a true love story. There were several of these popular waltzes around at the time. Our famous and prized French national accordionist, Richard Galliano, has revisited many of these golden oldies. I'm lucky to have him as a friend. He must have really enjoyed this session. It's VERY unusual to see him reading sheet music; this must have been due to the arrangement. I don't know if this is your personal site Wynton, but if it is, thank you for posting. I know you did a tour with Richard, doing several Piaf themes- la Foule (The Crowd) being one of the great numbers. It's a breath of fresh air to hear these great arrangements; it brings new light to the matter. All the best from France. Au revoir et merci encore!
