Thanks for sharing that. A lot of white water and surf paddlers put a 1/4 inch cord along the paddle under the tape along their first row of knuckles. This helps them keep there paddle aligned without have to look at it. It helps for rough water paddling, surf launches and landings, rolls, or anytime you need to know how your paddle is aligned without looking.

i got another suggestion for ur test on the grip tape for guaranteed hold and comfort. before adding on the grip tape, clean area with isopropyl alcohol and run a strip of 3m double sided industrial tape, then cover with the grip. works great for me. Aloha from Kansas

I prefer gloves if I have to paddle very much, but I've played racquet sports and bicycled for years: there are all kind of textured and cushioned tape available.

Baseball bat tape I use on my paddle. It’s flexibility and comfortably is surprising.

would that work for a tubular boat ladder? 1" diameter stainless for getting in the boat but the tube is slippery. I tried black duct tape but its almost as slippery as the bare stainless tube. Does this offer grip on say vertical tube pulling yourself up on a ladder? At least better than duct tape?

It might. You need to know it is not flat. There is some depth and give to the tape.
