One of the most important videos about paddling technic ever!!!!!

Good video! One wing coach shared with me that the "take the blade out before it reaches the hip" is (another) exaggerated teaching simplification, that is more of a mental cue that the "power is in front of you", than an actual physical happening. I agree that if you actually did this, the result would be a contrived mess. Accelerating the blade through the exit is commonly taught in Greenland-style paddling.

I've worked with too many that take the exit cues literally unfortunately! More information leads to more success for many. Congrats out there on the Everglades Challengea

Fun fact: at 0:09 you can see an epic legacy and there’s 2 things about that, 1 is my personal k1 is a legacy, and 2 the legacy unfortunately got discontinued

on a ski is if you are rotating by the time blade reaches hip the face of the blade is no longer 90degrees to travel but rather starts to angle and slice out, so it has low resistance allowing fast exit, and doesnt create a downward scooping force. Easier on right hand side, but harder on left. lower feather makes it easier to do on left also.
