Description: Following the south shoreline of Clearwater Lake beneath The Palisades; these are huge cliffs that rise 300 feet or more above the lake. Near the middle of the video where we pull into shore, this is the location of an old portage landing. This 350-rod portage went directly over the 350-foot ridge that separates Clearwater Lake and Caribou Lake. Some of the portage remains. The first part of the portage follows small creek up to an unnamed lake. There used to be a house of some sort at this location too. In this video we are paddling from the Clearwater Lake Palisades Trailhead to the Caribou Lake portage. This is in the BWCA.
