I usually side with the athlete on matters about getting paid but you're spot on. Interviews raise his profile as well and he still needs that every bit as much as the journalists need someone to interview. If Tom Cruise can still promote his own movies for free, Paddy can do interviews (free promotion for him/his fights) without getting paid.
