From my experience of being in a 50/50 battle it’s not a fake but more of a pain olympics. He was definitely feeling it but didn’t feel anything break just yet so he didn’t tap.

High lvl tactics how? If I'm the opponent seeing that, I'm thinking that i almost got him and that will in turn just motivate me to hold on, not tap myself and probably try to use more power to finish faster especially if i feel like tapping.
