I used another style of padlock and had a different method of insertion. The lock I used was fully functional in the bottle.

This has, sorry to say, nothing to do with an impossible bottle, as items inside should work as intended before inserting them into the bottle, if the bottle is broken and the items “released”, and a glued together Ribik’s Cube is not working and neither is a broken padlock. So for me this is as impressing as if you had cut the bottle, put the stuff inside, and glued the bottle back together.
