No matter what people say, to me Padme Amidala is one the best Star Wars characters. She's much more than beautiful dresses. She's brave, clever and fair. She did everything in her power for her people since a very young age. I've always admired her.

We don't often see the sort of costume design they dedicated to this character. Not even in modern Star Wars shows. It's somewhat interesting that the character is known for intricate clothes and hair. And her husband is most recognised by a single unchanging suit. Yet they both end up being iconic.

@@briarroseedits4375 Awww your welcome! Alot of people hate on the prequels, I always loved them, I grew up with them and still love them to this day. The prequels combined with the Clone Wars tv series is my fav era of Star Wars! Watching Phantom Menace when I was little, I had a huge crush on Padme! Embarrassing I know lol. But she was always more than her many dresses, she was also very clever e.g using decoys. Brave to fight for her people till the bitter end. But also kind, she had the patience to deal with all the politics of the Senate because she loved the Republic so much. I'm glad there are people out there like you who still like the prequels and Padme as much as I do, I felt like I was the only one lol. Okay, this turned into a bit of a rant lol sorry about that 😅

Padme's biggest problem was that she was an intelligent, rational individual with a strong sense of duty and committment to a Republic that had rotted away centuries before she was born. And, honestly, Darth Sidious took that personally. She was his political protege and most dangerous foe politicially, precisely the sort of person whom had inspired the Old Republic into becoming a galactic power in the first place. Her main use to him was as the pretty, sympathetic face of his "compassionate" regime. Also, politics were to Vader what romance was to Obi-Wan: avoided if at all possible, dodged as with all responsibilities while lecturing about taking responsibility, duck if dodging was not sucessful, flirt to confuse and distract everyone while simultaneously edging toward the next ride off of the planet. So, Vader was an excellent commander and general who was massively popular with the troopers but wholly incompetent at beaucracy and in his aware of the vast spinnette's web of the interconnected galactic politics. Amidala would do the actual work of governance and diplomacy, the one person ethics committee for the Imperial Governance and Military Complex with Vader as Supreme Commander of all Forces, ever eager to be her attack tu'kata. It'd keep most of the corruption and incompetence out, let him foist off all the work on the younger generation while reaping all the benefits having the galaxy's resources at his fingertips for his own personal projects. Just like her first wedding, Padme is wedded yet again only to the Empire through her husband (Heir Apparant to the Empire) and is the face of its PR with Palpatine using her as the political equivalent of a meat shield to keep the likes of Organa and Mothma from trying to stir up rebellion, taunting her from time to time simply due to the fact that in any other era of the Republic she would've been able of foiling, or at least postponing, Darth Bane's Grand Plan.

Padme Amidala would have been a brilliant mother had she lived. It was sad for her to die. One can see her characteristics in Luke and Leia.Mostly Luke though because he believed that was still some good in Anakin.
