Padmasambhava is one of the greatest achievers in the history of Buddhism and the founder of Tibetan Buddhism. Nyingmapa respected him as the second Buddha. Eight years after the Nirvana of Sakyamuni Buddha, among many miraculous signs, a Nirmanakaya of Amitabha Buddha with auspicious appearances was transformed inside a lotus on the Danagosha Sea in the northwest corner of Udyana Kingdom. After the king saw this, he welcomed Padmasambhava to the palace and crowned him a prince. In order to complete his altruistic career, the prince once asked his father’s permission to leave the palace but was not allowed. So, he left the palace in a convenient way. After that, the master began his own studying and cultivation process.
His footprints have spread all over Tianzhu and many other countries and lands, benefiting all sentient beings with his supernatural powers and enlightenment methods. In the ninth century AD, in order to establish the holy Dharma teachings in Tibet, King Trisong Detsen invited Shantarakshita Khenpo and Padmasambhava to Tibet successively.
After entering Tibet, Padmasambhava traveled throughout Tibet with his supernatural powers, working tirelessly for the happiness and wisdom of future Tibetans.
During Padmasambhava's trip to Tibet, he first subdued the humans and non-humans who opposed the erection of the holy religion in Tibet through the manifestation of his extraordinary supernatural powers. Secondly, he passed on the inheritance and blessing of Buddhism Dharma in general, especially Ttantric Dharma, to his disciples. In order to prevent the profound teachings and sacred objects from being confused, depleted and lost, and in order to maintain their extraordinary blessing power for future disciples, Padmasambhava and Yeshe Tsogyal Dakini buried them as termas. Padmasambhava's disciples can still obtain these termas through various methods. In the year of the Wood Monkey (864) in the Tibetan calendar, after staying in Tibet for fifty-five years, Padmasambhava no longer listened to the requests of his disciples and used his supernatural powers to fly to the pure land.
