Hey boss ! i m French and was watching the FT this day for railing Yvan D and you obv ahhah My first impression was like "wowww he 's a MONSTER , looks like a huge good ICM fold vs the CL" and now after 30 min video + simulation, i just realize how many EV you burn with that fold, cuz a very good player like Guillaume can take a lot of advantage to shove exploit ICM here cuz he knows you should and fold tons of you r opening range. What crazy game, and this is why i love it !!! The way how you can change the approch with another way, another explication, you re not a fish ahahah First things, i want to write you why you don,t talk with this Guillaume !!!!! but after, i see you with a good live attitude, trying to find somethings, he really look unconfortable, no eyes battle or looking, and in that time he seems like thinking and realize how he s jam are bad and just praying god for see you fold ahahhaahha Love your inspiring attitude, and the way how you approch the game, how you explain the thinking, continue what you do you r the best thanks boss and Gl take care buddy ps : it''s my first comment in youtube life, you can be happy ahahah ps 2 ; sorry for my fucking bad english

Very interesting analysis Patrick, after working some time in HRC, studying my FTs from low stakes I thought that shoving in 44 there is a pretty standard play from your opponent, because you're so much limited by the ICM. On the other hand, I always forget about some other things like: people will call wider than they should, we ditch our postflop edge, we risk our whole stack also. Thank you for the analysis, once again realised that poker is far from black and white scenarios. Btw, I would probably spend the money on a trip with my gf to New Zealand, US and take a big ass vacation there :D

Great video, I was surprised you didn't go into your opening size there though. I'm sure it's standard and just a detail but still. In the sims you put in 2x but in game you opened to 2.65x, which might have induced him to shove as well, where he thought you were ready to call off the shorties but not his shove. Keep the great content coming :). With 42k I could fly to Vegas for 2-3 WSOPS for 1-2 weeks and play small mtts :)

HI Pads, Sorry for the long comment :) I am a big fan, and really like your content here. Could you pls answer this one question on limping strategy if you can - You mentioned that limping is a bad strategy (cause we do not intend to expand our range in this scenario, and we want to be taking the pot down preflop), but if we know that folks are pretty aggressive, what about limping from the point of view of just being able to realise our equity. If we build a limping range with some traps but mainly with hands that we can't call a big stack shove with but dont like folding preflop and have ok/good playability vs them calling our limps or even if they iso us [Range like - 99, 1010, JJ, QJs, AJs, A10s, AQo, J10s, K10s, KJs, KQs, Q10s, 109s may be KK, AQs, A4s, A5s (for limp reraising)] and raise little more polarised say (A6s .. A10s, AJo, A10o, QQ, AA, AKs, AKo, KQo, KJo, K9s, Q9s, 89s) where we have clear calls or folds vs 3 bets/shoves, Do you think its a bad strategy in this spot. It just intuitively feels to me like a decent counter strategy against aggressive players in ICM/late stages of tournaments, where we are incentivised to play a smaller pots in general , and realise our equity with some of these good hands in our range, as opposed to be put in spots like these or having to play 3 bet pots, where our likelihood of busting is higher in general, this will also allow us to have some limp folds vs short stacks, so we put them in tougher spots with some of their hands. One argument could be that this is very unlikely scenario that bb shoves so big, and in most cases we will take down the pot preflop, but then can't we play a mixed strategy with raise as well as limps to optimise our equity realisation with some good hands by limping them, as they get into trouble facing 3 bets or shoves if we raise them. In limps, the most likely scenario would be that they will either call our limps or raise it, and since all the big stacks are kind of equal, they are also disincentivized to make the pot bigger by raising our limps since they would have to play postflop OOP as well, and therefore we might be able to realise our overall equity better (also even if the big stacks are quite bigger than us, then also they can't just blindly raise our limps as my overall limping range is also quite strong and we can still call their limps and realise our equity, where as if we raise and they 3 bet, we are mostly put in shove or fold spots as calling is not lucrative, where we are playing bigger pot with range disadvantage and we are putting ourself in a spot, where there is high likelihood of busting from the tournament). I try to use this strategy in late stages of tournaments on aggressive tables to keep the pots small and manoeuvre my range advantage postflop in limped pots, when i don't want to play big pots preflop, as it increases my likelihood to bust, or collide with big stacks if they are playing quite aggressive. Would be great to know your thoughts on, if this is really bad reasoning/counter adjustment, or kind of ok if i can play this strategy well enough. I feel uncomfortable playing 3 bet pots postflop vs big stacks in late stages of tournaments, as best counter strategy against that is 4 bet shoving and that increases our risk of busting.

Not even close to being an incorrect fold, given chip leader’s likely range, and given ICM considerations. Your best chance to win this tournament was to play tight while the two short stacks busted - not risking everything on a sketchy call for all your chips. I’d much rather watch a video of a skilled professional making a big laydown, as opposed to one in which he donked off his stack when he had 2.5x the chip stack of TWO less skilled players. Like I said, this fold was not even close to being wrong. Sleep soundly, my friend. :)

Taking 10k of that straight down the palm casino in mayfair for some 10/25 action. Followed by unreal food and big time cocktails at sexy fish. The go to a load of exclusive clubs and get on the grey goose and champers. (10k budget for the night out, im paying for everyone's drinks). The 3rd 10k i would buy myself an omega speedster and a breitling. Last 10k i would take my wife and baby boy on a sick holiday in Caribbean with 5 star villa.

I personally can't find it within me to berate you as i do believe it was a good fold with the information you had. Also you mentioned you believed his perception was that you viewed him as aggressive, and although you don't believe aces and kings are in his range it would be a good exploit to include them some of the time vs someone with that perception. so given that being a possibility and not knowing what his actual range is it could be hands with a lot of equity vs jacks and how likely you are to ladder up and make top 3 I do believe it was the correct fold. great content :) this is my favourite type of poker video, hearing from a highly skilled player their perspective. hope these types of vids keep coming Also i'd of spent the money on crack and hoes. Jokes, i'd probably have done some travelling around Thailand and Asia, and gone to see family in the US, then added the remainder to my bankroll which would probably be over 30k still, Thailand is so cheap.

It's 2030. You go threw out the rubbish. As you are stepping out of your apartment you see big chunk of cash laying next to the trash can. Somehow it reminds you old moment from the 2019 WSOP, where you also threw out the money with folding JJ vs 44. You can not remember anymore the sum you burnt with this fold, you only know it was worth 4 bitcoins at the time. Now you look back at the cash. It's worthless. Same as you. And you know exactly why. And it still hunts you in your dreams. The guy from the youtube ad should send you double of bitcoins, of what you sent him. You never knew why you did it. Maybe it was greed. Maybe. But now all of yours 19 bitcoins are gone. And so is your future.

Great video, fuck up on the fold but as you said, he could have shown up with queens or AKo... :) Jokes aside, $40k is definitely something for in my case (and this may disappoint you here) it would buy me 12 months of living expenses to play poker 120 hours/ week and see if I can get properly good!!

Is this genuinely a big regret of yours in poker? I thought against a player with no significant reads, in a vacuum this is a fairly standard fold, obviously being results oriented this time $wise it sucks but i reckon you make these types of folds week in week out online! Great vid though Pads

OK. I would spend that money by traveling to Italy (I would have to lose weight first). Maybe I would like to visit Hong Kong/Macau. I would buy a gaming PC that could occasionally host Zoom calls. I would invest the rest. BTW. Excellent videos.
