Now Pakistan needs to develop operational strategies for air defence, ie, the simultaneous use of air force fighter jets and SAMs. In previous wars, ground-based air defence systems were left alone to deal with attacking air force, example being the first Gulf war. In such a scenario, air forces usually overcome the ground based air defences. What has to be developped is the simultaneous use of both the air force fighter aircrafts and surface-to-air missiles using IFF systems for avoiding friendly casualties. In the past, the ground-based air defence units needed a free airspace in which to do hunting, ie free of friendlies. But it cant continue like this.

Speed is one factor .... more important is flying profile. Cruise missiles like Brahmos are terrain hugging missiles, hence much more difficult to intercept. While ballistic missiles have a ballistic trajectory, more easy to intercept. Most missiles esp cruise missiles today in world's inventory are subsonic ..... hence easier to intercept. But no doubt supersonic cruise missiles like Brahmos 2 and hypersonic missiles are more challenging ... there are few air defense systems that can intercept them. Even the world's most layered air defense system like that of Israel might not be able to shoot down a hypersonic missile or a missile slavo like Hamas rockets costing a few hundred dollars missile each! Technology is always evolving .... there is no super weapon. It takes a few years to develop counter systems.

A lot of insistencies in the narrative. How can the intercepter have seeker that is Semi-Active and active? How can 1 battlion of HQ9BE have 48 misslies and 196 missiles? Also, HQ9BE is not used to defend instsllatolns or bases. It is an Area Denial weapon. It could be used as a Air Defense weapon, but then it would be area defense not point defense for a specific installation. This very important to understand. Otherwise it's deployment will be poorly executed. Finally, a 25 km range against cruise missiles is often quoted for HQ9BE but it is not explained why? This is particularly important for Pakistan as Indian Airforces main stand off capability is the supersonic BrahMos. They have Air and land based versions deployed in large numbers. They will certainly launch salvo after salvo. Pakistan will have to depend on HQ16E, Aspide 2000, and old Crotale Short Range SAMs. Are the the Army HQ16E even integrated with the Airforce HiMADs and VShoRADs
