I once nursed an elderly lady with dementia, who was forgetting almost everything, but wore her rosary around her neck and constantly kissed the cross. Her kids didn't like it (they ran after their father and found the whole thing embarrassing.) Unfortunately this lady lived in England, and I was the only other Catholic in the nursing home. Sometimes I'd say a few Hail Marys with her, but I was so busy that I never had time to pray the rosary (other than a few times on my break I'd take it in her room and pray a few decades, but she was asleep.) Anyway, one day I came in and her rosary was gone. The JW manager said it was dangerous physically (she might strangle herself) plus it had been offending the other residents. (I think the real reason was the offense of the cross.) Well, the lady (whose name I won't share) continued kissing her fingers, as though she still held the Cross and saying 'Jesus, I love you, ' over and over. Shortly before she died she was sitting in the lobby and started singing hymns (very beautifully) with tears pouring down her face. Now her kids were really embarrassed! And three nights later she died. She was in extreme pain, struggling to breathe, but kept reaching past us, smiling as though she was trying to touch someone. You know the way a wee baby tries to touch their mother's face? We couldn't hear what she was saying, her breath was so laboured, but far from looking terrified as most people do when dying of pneumonia, she looked absolutely delighted. Pray to Our Mother and she will show you Her Son. Pray to Jesus and He will give you everything. Heaven is full of saints the world locked away in hidden places - nursing homes, prisons, factories, and those saints see Him now, as I pray we all will. Holy Mother of God, Pray for us, that we may be made worthy of the Promises of Christ.

@@osirysteamo You're welcome. I often think of her. As a carer I used to be afraid of dementia more than camcer even - but her example and that of some other sweet souls taught me that even there God and His Mother are gracious. Saint Therese of Lisieux's father suffered similarly after his stroke, but his sanctity is undisputed. On one other occasion I was working a night shift when an elderly lady with dementia died, and myself and the two others on the floor (a Hindu and an atheist) couldn't help but notice the smell of roses. This lady hadn't spoken firnyears, but a few days before her death while I was dressing her smiled and said 'I love you' as though to a baby in her arms. I always remember the night she died, the Hindu carer from an outside agency going to find her yellow and white roses as myself and the other woman prepared her for the undertaker. He came back when we had her changed into her best clothes just as we were combing her hair, and told us she needed 'a bouquet to give her lady.' If anyone reading this could say a prayer to Saint Thomas for this Indian gentleman's conversion I would be grateful. I forget his name, I only worked with him a few times, but he was very moved by the manner of her death. One of his colleagues from the agency was an Indian Catholic who I know shared the gospel with him. (That gentleman always worked nights so he could pray the rosary while doing the rounds, and Divine Mercy going up and down the corridors while the residents were sleeping.)

True, if need be, he really lays down the law - the message is clear and unassailable! I was fortunate enough to attend mass at the church this priest was assigned to. He is a gem and can rightly divide the word of truth. As a convert his preaching helped train me in the faith of the Apostles and helped me understand my journey into the Church. His preaching has also helped me to understand the errors of Russia and the times in which we live. If the Church had bishops with this priests love of the truth the Church would once again lead the world into conversion. He has the ability to convict you of sin know that you deserve hell and yet leaves you with the hope of salvation and knowing God loves you still. Father will not mince words and asserts ones own responsibility for working out your salvation before Jesus Christ, yet he will do all in his power to help you carry that burden. I get so tired and discouraged by priests that lay a heavy burden on the back of the sheep by preaching hell hell hell with very little hope of you getting there. With Father grace and justice have kissed.

In my youth (age of five or six years) I have some memories of the Latin Mass, but then the sweeping changes came to my little upper Midwest town. It was not until Easter of 1988 that I, once again, found myself at the one and only *true* Mass. Thanks be to God that I have the Latin Mass, once again! I continue to be mocked and ridiculed by "friends", family, and co-workers alike, for believing in God Almighty, going to the Latin Mass, praying the rosary, etc. I have to remember that it was not always like this (for me to have the Latin Mass) so I must remember then too that I was also "outside" of God's Holy Church and I must continue to pray for those whom have *yet* to return the God's Holy Church. Please, pray for me that I may continue to "fight the good fight"!! Know that I will pray for you as well. Pax tecum!

I truly enjoy listening to this priest and learn much from him. In one of his videos he mentions being the son of a shepherding family from Montana, which I find puzzling because the churches I attended during the 4 years I lived in that beautiful state, were very relaxed novus ordo churches. Of course the family atmosphere is more influential in growing children, so I assume his rural, hardworking, Catholic family must have been strong and virtuous. Also, the natural beauty of the Rockies is spectacular, leading to praising God’s grandeur. Whatever his background, he is always inspiring. Thank you, Father.

I have to completely agree about the Catholic Churches near me. My son used to love to go to Mass with me. He wanted to carry the Rosary beads and we would get there early and do the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. We had to stop doing this though because the people sitting around us were talking too loudly. On one occasion I actually asked the women sitting near me to talk more quietly. I explained to them that it was hard for me to tell my child he must comport himself well in church and be respectful when the elders around him aren't modeling this. They glared at me and talked louder. They texted during mass. The girls wore mini skirts up to their crotch. Even the altar girls, they had no robes but wore their street clothes and to see that up at the altar was unbelievable. The priest didn't say anything. My son eventually refused to go. He said sorry Mom I love God, but I can't take the music anymore. They had replaced the organ and choir with a woman vocalist and her husband on piano. Basically, the Captain and Tenille play church music. The woman was so loud that the walls and speakers would shake. No one else sang. It was her floors how. And that was the end of my son wanting to go to church. I have yet to find a church near me Ny different. There is a church that does a Latin mass that I want to attend, but it is so far and my husband is not comfortable with me driving that far and putting so many miles on the car, so I am stuck in between submission and a mass that no one in my family gets anything out of of. I wish the diocese or whomever would realize that there are many people like me that want. Conservative mass, Nd would agree to have one. A Week or something. Some of us can't drive a long distance because of arthritis, etc. that is my problem anyway.

@stephanielane18217 жыл бұрын
wmnoffaith1 I agree, I find I am angry in Mass, not focusing on Jesus, and annoyed with myself for not being more holy. When The music ministry's concert Begin's I feel annoyed with the diva doing the solo performance, doing the Reading's, some times both Reading's and during Mass thumbing through the song booklet, all this due to the choir area is at the front of the church, and unless you close your eye's during the whole Mass, its difficult not to become distracted. I travel home from Mass, disgruntled and upset with myself, for having these feeling's. Come Holy Spirit
@martinkelly51427 жыл бұрын
wmnoffaith1 I was raised as a traditional Catholic and learned the all the antiphones in the latin Mass by heart as a primary school student and. I still remember most of them. Though now I don’t interpret the world and reality through religion and I do not have great faith in ‘Faith’ there is a large part of me which is still Catholic. The Bible to me is a record of the myths and legends of the Jews and nothing more. The concept of ‘Orignal Sin’ and Redemption through a blood sacrifice is quite simply absurd. If for instance Euro-Asian people have between 2%-4% Neanderthal DNA because of interbreeding, were Neanderthals in need of some degree of Redemption too though they were not human and were here 300,000 before humans? Despite all that there is a lot of good in Catholicism. The need for good works for ‘Salvation’ to be achieved has given rise to a long and noble tradition of loving one’s neighbour as is prescribed in the New Testament. Other Churches (not all) are big on singing and dancing but pretty indifferent to the plight of the poor, the sick and the abandoned. Finally I completely agree that the modern Catholic Churches and Ceremonies have nothing going for them now unlike in the past. I plan to attend a Tridentine Mass soon to see If I will enjoy the experience and to test my recall of the Latin responses.
@aileenmcruz35896 жыл бұрын
I agree with you!! I cannot concentrate praying the Rosary or Divine Mercy when people are in church talking and laughing like it's a social hall. There's a reason we have a social hall in a separate bldg or room. It's completely distracting to include the way some women/teenage girls wardrobe is non-modest. I no longer can attend mass where they there is no respect or present thet God is not important. It's upsetting and disappointing.

The priest mentioned that all of a person's merits are lost after a mortal sin committed. This is true, but so that none of you fall into despair about the loss of merit acquired in a state of grace before a mortal sin committed, St. Thomas Aquinas recognizes that "meritorious deeds done before are revived by Penance" (ST III Q89 A5) www.newadvent.org/summa/4089.htm#article5. He quotes Joel 2:25 "I will restore to you the years which the swarming locust has eaten...which I sent among you."

How many times have I said about movies, tv, music to a companion “who ARE these people”? “And why are we listening to/watching them?” A thing I don’t remember hearing anybody say until this priest. Why would anyone want to look inside the foetid minds of unvetted scriptwriters, authors, songwriters? Stephen King for example. Or Thomas Harris. They’re speaking to you, you’re looking inside the heads of individual, specific men. Men you don’t know. And it’s so ugly. They’re hurting you. Look away. Turn it off. Put it down. Leave the room.

Where can I find a church that preaches like this?
@terrydillon14275 жыл бұрын
My family and I were very intrigued by what you had to say and we want to lead more holy lives and yes paganism has been a source of anxiety for us. We were curious to know what has been done in the parish you visited with your non-Catholic friend to improve that situation? Hoping to get ideas for fixing those things in our own communities.

Father, I can't agree with you more regarding the joke that some catholic parishes pass as true praise in the music and worship of God. A parish nearby literally plays country music as it seems the music coordinator has a passion for the country life. If this were my first time at a catholic mass I would've laughed so hard and probably would've mocked the faith as a bunch of "Happy Hands" club fanatics who seem like a bunch of pushovers. God bless my parents for taking me to mass as a child and hearing the organ play to see how true worship should be instead of a rock concert with Catholic words. God bless you father, I felt bad for thinking these thoughts in that particular church at that time but it just didn't feel like "home."

In the early 90s my sister and I attended mass at a Novus Ordo church and we almost jumped out of our socks when a group of mariachis started singing the songs during mass. At first we were taken aback and then we just started laughing at how ridiculous it made the mass look. Years later I realized how awful it all was and it just made me sad.

Do you know of a list of criteria as to how to determine if a song is leading you to heaven or to hell?? I heard that you should read the lyrics first (do not listen to the song) so that if it does not "pass" the criteria test, you do not get the tune in your head.

I think it was pope Pius X who said that sacred music should lead us to devotion, not tapping our feet. So even if the music is right, it may just be entertainment to the person. On the other hand, in response to your question, a music that doesn't "lead to heaven" doesn't necessarily mean it will lead to hell. It can be purely recreational. Have a blessed day.

I think that's a great idea... to listen to the lyrics first.

I thought this video would be about what measures I could take if I were a father to keep the house my family is living in as safe as possible from demonic influence and about taking measures such as asking your local priest to come bless and exorcise the house or spraying holy water around the house or such and such. It's really about how to protect your family from bad influences. That's interesting and I did watch it for a while but ultimately, it's not what I was seeking.

Jesus never used violence against people in the temple or any place. He made a whip to drive the animals out. Sometimes, a whip is all that will shift a stubborn animal.

Can't say I have ever seen anything that this Priest has said in any Church I have ever attended and I am not a traditionalist. There are some parents that don't discipline their children or let them scream or yell and run around that does happen but I have not seen a Clown Mass or Fire breathers or any of the things shown in the photos on the video. Worst I have ever seen in a New Rite Mass is that a guest speaker Priest from New york was a bit odd. He had an ear ring in one ear and wore sandals and when he did Mass I felt like he was putting on a magic show. Beyond that My Parish is very conservative it may not be traditional but it is conservative and very patriotic.

You need to open your eyes. You have Extraordinary Eucharistic " ministers", people put their hands out to receive the Lord, if you can not see how wrong that is you are not in a Catholic parish, you have swallwed the made up protestantisation nonsense and so has your parish priest, Wake up!

I never got married or had any kids but I have a sibling who has 3 adult kids whom were raised in a dysfunctional setting. They have all turned out to be just what the world ordered for these times. I try to bring them into the church they were baptized in but they aren't interested in practicing the Catholic faith. I'm praying that one day before It's too late they will all repent and see the real light of Jesus & get away from the illusion of light from the world and It's present leader the Angel of the Death light. Who lights the way to hell.

I appreciate your efforts in pointing out the necessities in maintaining the integrity of our religion. I do take issue with what seems to be your painting all fantasy as paganism in disguise. T.S. Elliott and J.R.R. Tolkien put a great deal of Christianity/Catholicism into their works. The Bible is God's word, yes. Saint Augustine stated that Genesis is allegorical. Great truths can be communicated through allegory. Christ used parables to teach quite often. The Bible (biblio... (books)) is a library of the Word of God. There is history, poetry, romance and so on. It all points to God.

Steven Calkum I’m a retired MD I’ve had to study and memorize many false theories to get where I am and yet I remained Roman Catholic At first of course it took a terrible toll on me! In retrospect I became a silent dual personality But I always returned to the truth .I had to silently say a Hail Mary keeping it to myself even to my(atheist X wife) And presently to the most important people in my life (my three children) At least two important people in my life have brought me Reassurance from the “other side” Jesus Christ has told us all we need to know This is a real struggle At times we had to seemingly to others go against our convictions! But never ever did I consciously murder another child of God (abortions) ! I realize I’m not worthy but I believe God understands beyond ! Yes i realize now that I alone cannot be responsible for my own loving children became”anti God” there are too many homosexual priests Too many liberal priest too many conformist priest where anything goes The cause I agree was removing the seriousness of the mass! That was the cause of the loss of God to so many! Including my family!

I guess I'm a city slicker, because I've never heard of anyone ever _singing in public_ like at a park, other than a band putting on a concert. I would be really freaked out if I witnessed that happen. 😲 But seriously, I've known plenty of people who grew up in very rural areas of the U.S. (including my father), and this priest is the first person I've ever heard talk like it's weird _not_ to sing in public. I don't want to judge, but I kinda have to question his sincerity on that one point.
