This is by far the best electrical guitar arrangement of this on KZbin. He actually plays it in the style of Paganini and he doesn’t really change much from the violin score. Everyone else adds a backing track to it, which completely takes it out of the style that Paganini probably wanted.

I'm classically trained, played the cello for many years, I don't even listen to Rock music, but I find this version amazingly good. I've met and played with many violinists, and not many would be able to play this so well. All these people making negative comments are just being assholes. BTW, If you haven't seen Milos Forman's Amadeus yet, you should really get hold of a copy and watch it right away. It's legendary.

Hey Dion, thanks for commenting! I watched the movie recently, it's awesome, thanks for the tip! :)

I'm just curious, what else do you like? I like classical too and rock and jazz and a lot of other stuff and to me it's like there's too much. Too much music and too little time to appreciate it all. But even if we're just talking classical, that's a huge range of diverse genres. So just out of curiosity, what kind of music do you dig? What does a classically trained cellist listen to? And if you like this, I'd suggest a guitarist called Yngwie Malmsteen. You've probably heard of him. He's pretty popular. He's kind of over the top and not big on subtlety but he does like to fuse rock and classical.

+Classicals Rocked +Also, Now that I think of it, You're doing this on an instrument that has: a fretboard 2x+ as long, 2x as wide, and tuned the wrong-way-round from the violin, & with a per-unit note generator in the right-hand pick, instead of a +/- set-and-forget bow that you leave on the strings & just wiggle & tilt. (so that note-generator-accuracy has to be what, ~4x more accurate, in the perpendicular than a bow?) -The mind freaking boggles at how you can do this!
@classicalsrocked9 жыл бұрын
+Will L The main part that I think becomes more difficult on guitar compared to violin is the length of the fretboard as the hand movements become alot wider in these directions. As you already pointed out. But honestly I just tried to play it and practiced until I was happy with how it sounded... Maybe you should also take into account, that on the violin the left hand has to be placed very accurately as there are infinitely many possible positions compared to the guitar with just finitely many due to the frets.
@RDArtist818 жыл бұрын
+Will L Way harder on the violin IMO. Smaller neck does not equal easier, in fact, it can prove harder. Then take the frets away and consider the space you're working with to hit the right notes. And bowing is a hell of a lot harder than just wiggle and tilt.

did you buy that guitar to play paganini? been looking for a nice 24 fret gitbox...btw, you played that well, enjoyed it. How long did it take you?
@classicalsrocked8 жыл бұрын
To a certain extend yes the 24 frets are very helpful to play certain things. Though the number one reason was that it has the built in sustainer and I could get it for not too much more than the sustainer costs on its own... I think it's a good guitar but not nearly as comfortable for me to play as the black strat, but that's subjective, maybe it would be the opposite for you... Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I guess I've been practicing it for about a year at the time I recorded it - not including the other maybe 16 years or so I have been playing the guitar before.
