Pahiyas Festival

One of the country's biggest harvest festival every May is the Pahiyas Festival, in honor of San Isidro Labador, the patron saint of farmers. It is a traditional celebration of the townsfolk in thanksgiving for the bountiful harvest. Decorations of leaf-shaped and multi-colored rice paper wafer called "Kiping" are used to decorate the facades of homes together with flowers and fruits, making this festival one of the most colorful in the Philippines.
