Paiere (canoe) Building Project on Atiu, Cook Islands

Kōrero o te ‘Ōrau Executive Member, Joshua Jim, who oversees the Atiu branch of the NGO’s ‘Ātui’anga ki te Tango (AKTT) programme sought out Master Carver Maki Kapao to teach him and AKTT Atiu students the art of paiere (canoe) building before the knowledge is lost.

I'm a native speaker of Māori (Taranaki dialect) and i only had to look at the subtitles a couple of times for a few words that I'm not familiar with. I think i could become fluent in Cook Island Maori if i keep exposing myself to it. Nei rā te mihi whakameitaki ki a koutou
