Girl, you're not alone. I've struggled with IBS and stomach issues my whole life, and in recent years things got extremely bad for me too. Went to India on a family trip, had to cut the trip short because I kept ending up in the ER due to my stomach issues. Went to Europe last year, had such a bad flare-up in Venice which lead to panic attacks. So I totally get you when you say going out is a stress because you don't want to get flare-ups, for me travelling far from US became a stress because I'd constantly end up in hospitals. So after my Europe trip, I took it seriously and after many doctors appointments, endoscopy/colonoscopy, breath tests, and more we realized I have SIBO (Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.) The antibiotics for SIBO were killer, I was miserable for two weeks enough to where even my doctor wanted me to get off them But I kept going just because I wanted results. Now I am better, with managing what I eat and I was finally able to put on weight which was an issue for me because I kept losing weight. You'll figure it out, but you are def not alone that's why I shared my personal story here for you and for anyone else that might need hope. Just keep your head up, keep logging what you eat, look into supplements that can help (probiotics, homoeopathic medicines are great at balancing gut heath) and you'll be feeling a lot better soon. Love. xx

IBS has literally controlled my life for the last year because of the same thing. I get uncomfortable every time I have to eat somewhere or am going on a trip or something. The diet is the most important thing, finding the foods that make you flair up is key!! You’re doing the right thing ☺️☺️

I can understand your feeling of being alone. I got diagnosed with IBS 5 months ago. I haven’t still 100% figure out what causes my flare-up. Besides the food, I think you should also try to pay close attention to how your workouts affect you. Steep hike, for example, worsens my IBS.

My partner had to use the low FODMAP diet for a while, we learned the trick is to start off the diet strict and then gradually add in the foods not allowed in order to determine whats causing your stomach problems, so it doesnt have to be a lifelong thing! It was actually super helpful for him. Loved the vlog btw xo

Thank you so much for talking about this. I've had IBS since i was a baby, it ruined my childhood and my teenage years. I'm 20 now and still struggle with it. I barely go out because i'm afraid that i'm going to feel sick. My whole life has been ruined because of that, and explaining that to people is so hard. Every time i have to leave my house, i have to calm myself and try not to stress out. It's been like this since i wad a little kid... Missed so many days of school, cried when i had to go on a school trip, didn't want to go to my friend's house, NEVER wanting to eat anywhere else than my house, ... I used to hate myself for being that way, i used to pray for it to end ... Anyway, i truly hope that doctors are going to find a remedy to this because it's a nightmare. Thank you, for opening the conversation. Because people tend to never talk about it. Now i feel less alone ...

I have ibs !! Lactose was my main trigger so I’m now vegan & maintain a healthy lifestyle. You’ll get to know what causes flare ups- for me it’s being stressed, eating processed foods, eating excess onions and garlic (these are the hardest because they’re the base for so many meals!!) but the biggest thing for me is preservatives in sugary alcohol & wine !!! I can’t stomach any wine anymore- if you read the back they all have preservatives added. Try switching to beer as they’re lower in preservatives xx I only drink cider and occasionally spirits now! It’s just not worth being uncomfortable in public :) x

I found out at 22 that I had IBS and I went through a lot of the same feelings of not wanting to go out because I was worried about what might happen and if I would need to make an excuse to go home if I got sick. It was definitely a journey to figure out what caused my flair ups and to re-learn how to eat. Aside from certain foods I pretty much cannot ever eat, I found through intuitive eating there were other foods I loved I could still enjoy so long as I listened to my body. Hang in there, the elimination diets were the worst but it got easier once I slowly re-introduced things into my diet that weren't triggers for me. I'm 26 and will always have issues but I'm so much more in control of my IBS now. I love that you are using your platform to share your experience and help reduce the social stigma around talking about this

It has totally changed my life and although it feels really frustrating and restrictive sometimes it allows me so much more freedom in other ways!! Paige 🥺 my heart breaks for you! I had huge anxiety around this. I had the exact same thing, I stayed at home for over three months straight and I struggled working. So many near accidents. I had so many blood tests and they came back as nothing was wrong. I finally paid for a private doctor in London she had me to hold these metal balls (so weird I know) and turns out I was allergic to milk gluten and citrus fruits. It was such a relief to know what was the issue. I hope you will find your peace and find out what food is triggering it !

I have stomach issues too! My brother also has ulcerative colitis and has a lot of issues as well. What helped me was going on the Whole30 - by eliminating most of the common flares and then slowly readding them back in, you can find out what specifically is ailing you. Don’t feel embarrassed!

girl i am the exact same with my stomach! it has caused me severe anxiety for years - again, I will make sure to be by a toilet at all times (at least knowing there is one I have access to if needed!). it causes so much stress each day - i would love to be spontaneous, going to beaches, going on hikes but just know I would feel so uncomfortable. I think my anxiety and overthinking also makes it all 10 times worse! :(

I’m so glad that you speak openly about your IBS, i have it but recently ive had the most awful flare up. I think it’s the first severe one ive had. Ive been suffering for a week because it took me until yesterday to realise I wasn’t ill and was having a flare up, so all week I’d been eating foods like chocolate, but highly processed foods are a big trigger for my IBS.

In the same boat! I had such bad problems for years. I’d not eat if I was put with friends or before an exam or anything like that because I was afraid of a flare up. I had multiple flare ups every day, to the points where I would be in tears. Going gluten free or dairy free didn’t help at all. Eliminating certain foods didn’t help, anything from a salad to a burger could cause a flare up. I Had a colonoscopy and endoscopy and Finally finally got on the right medication and I am a brand new woman!

THANK YOU fro talking about IBS... the last 5 months have been hell, taking allergy test, and everything shows up being negative. Been to the ER so many times. So now awaiting a doctors appointment (which will likely take two more months bc of covid), but my symptoms are definitely more close to chrons disease. And I am terrified, and stressed. It's really nice to hear someone else talking about it.

Hi Paige!! Since I was 11 Ive had gastro problems and I actually went to New York Presbyterian for a few years because the local doctors on Long Island couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. They checked everything, from having a colonoscopy and an endoscopy, many blood tests, stool tests, I even had a nutritionist (tried cutting out dairy, caffeine etc.) and everything and they couldn't find anything wrong! It was a rough four years of pain every single day of having to go to the bathroom, having to skip out on events and hanging out with my friends because I would be in pain and even had to take off a whole week in elementary school because of the pain. Then around when I was 15-16 I went to the Gynecologist and had talked to her about what issues I was having. She said it sounded like Endometriosis, which I had never heard of before and my previous doctors had never thought of. They always thought it was a gastro problem but turns out it wasn't. I started on the Xulane patch which is a birth control patch (more effective than the pill since my stomach wouldn't be able to absorb the pill well), it started off not working much but then after a month I was feeling amazing. I felt like myself again. I could go on and on about how much my child hood was ruined bc of my stomach problems and I'm sorry that this is happening to you right now. I hope this could be of some help to you and maybe you can look into this being something else rather than a stomach issue because like I said for a long time they were looking down the wrong path when it was a completely different one the whole time (just explore the possibilities!). I hope you feel better soon!

I understand how you feel. I’ve been struggling with IBS for 6 years now. At first my stomach always hurt and I needed to have access to a bathroom or I would feel uncomfortable. There is nothing to be embarrassed about concerning your stomach issue! I'm sixteen years old and I had a pretty similar thing going on from november 2019 until may 2020. Turns out I only had a virus that was managable with the right medicine. Something that is really important and that i recommend doing is talking about it with friends and family. Even though it may be a kind of weird subject ( I had this issue with my intestine so that was even weirder) you can't let this sit with yourself. Sharing your worries and just plainly talking with someone really does help. There are so many people who have problems like these, I think it shouldn't be so complicated to talk about. Anyways, I wish you the best of luck. I really hope you will be able to manage your new diet and that nothing worse happens! xx

I'm convinced this video must be a sign for me. Paige, thank you so much for opening up about your gut issues. I've been suffering with gut and bowel problems for over a year now and my doctor said it was likely ibs and due to my anxiety. I relate to every word you say, especially how uncomfortable and low going outside makes you feel due to worrying about your gut. Ever since the year began, i've struggled immensely with going outside and being social due to the fear that my ibs might be triggered. I'm always uncomfortable and am still clueless onto why my gut became like this and what makes it worse. I feel so alone struggling with this and I'm so pleased (words cannot describe) and relieved that I saw this video and finally i know it's not just me going through this everyday. I wish you nothing but good health and i really hope you find someway to heal your gut soon
@livvader4 жыл бұрын
To add onto this... some things that have helped me cope with my ibs is herbal supplements like triphala, drinking warm water throughout the day and drinking green tea after all my meals to make me feel less uncomfy and bloated after eating. I hope this might help ! :)

I’ve been struggling with IBS for the passed 3-4 months now and never knew what the triggers were. I hated going out and eating food because I was so scared and insecure of what could happen and my bloating was so painful some times that I wouldn’t eat anything for a whole day! I found out that it had a lot to do with my spine (got diagnosed with scoliosis) and Ive been seeing a chiropractor for about 5 weeks now and it has honestly helped me so much I feel more free in what I eat - even though I also cut out dairy and red meats - but seeing a chiropractor has helped me a lot with my digestion but I’m still on the road to recovery! Don’t worry Paige you are not alone in this!! 💕

Thank you for sharing Paige! You are one of my favorite youtubers. I’ve been having IBS my whole life and I’m 27 but this year has been the worse. I went to the urgent care, ER, and doctors. Taking blood tests after blood tests, x rays and ct scans and they say everything is healthy. They can’t figure out what triggers it. They said I’m lactose intolerant too so I stopped taking dairy products. Then they say I’m constipated (TMI) and there is stool stuck which is weird because I go everyday. My stomach, side, & back hurts cause of the “constipation” so it doesn’t make sense. It makes me upset that I can’t go outside, hangout with family & friends without worrying about my stomach problems, I can’t even do simple work, or even a simple exercise. Or when I do go out I have to go to the restroom ASAP or I have to go home right away. I do feel alone and I feel embarrass. It has affected me mentally, emotionally, and physically but I know I’m stronger than this. ❤️just wanted to share with you and send you good vibes. Love you Paige! We got this 💪

Dont drink anything while eating a meal 3. Drink aloe vera smoothies (u can add fruits) first thing in the morning 4. Take a probiotic that specializes in guy health 5. Get an endoscopy!! There can be an underlying problem (i had an ulcer) 6. STOP EATING FRIED AND SPICY FOODS trust me! 7. Try to remain positive.
