A Pain Management Specialist usually an Anaesthesiologist evaluates, diagnoses, and then develops a treatment plan to relieve, reduce, or manage pain and help patients return to everyday activities quickly. Pain can be categorized into acute pain, chronic pain, cancer pain, and sometimes a combination of these. Another major role played by these Pain Management Specialists in Palliative care. Palliative care may last for weeks, months, or years, and the relief of moderate to severe pain plus symptom burden during that time can greatly improve the quality of life.
The biggest problem with Palliative Care is that many people are referred for care too late. By starting this type of care early, and by using the right type of pain management, nearly all pain problems can be relieved or reduced.
