I believe this is the result of culture more than religion. I have read countless books written by Muslim women who escaped bad marriages, and how much they suffered at the hands of their husbands and in-laws. People that mistreat or abuse women often have double standards.

@Annie Aso I think, sister, just please respect Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W)(PBUH) as I saw another comment of yours in this video and please write the Quran not Quoran and yes I do believe that Hadiths were written 200-250 years after the Prophet's(PBUH) Death and the Hadiths contain some narrations that contradict the Quran as well as the Prophet's(PBUH) character, if you read the Prophet's Character and Conduct according to the Quran Perspective, you will find him as the Greatest Man to Ever born on Earth and even his Sunnah which is also being a caring, honest, loyal, loving, romantic husband to the wife rather than being a Dominant Master upon the wife. Last but not least, sister, the hadith which says that majority of women are in Hell, did you ever read the context of that Hadith, I am not justifying the Hadith but if you understand the Hadith clearly, the Prophet is addressing some women at the time of Eid who were ungrateful to their Husbands and He advised them don't be grateful to your husband if he cares for you, loves you and gives you importance but now my opinion, I am not targeting or saying every woman is like that, if a woman is evil, she can destroy an entire family just by her words, backbiting. This happened in my family where a woman of our family manipulated the people's minds in our family which lead to breaking of the family forever and let me tell you that woman also practices black magic but our family members found out that later. Some other cases like of women which have been false accusations of marital rape, dowry, oppression in household, etc and then filing for divorce without any valid reason also happen. So these are the kinds of women, sister whom the Prophet used to fear for his Ummah. May Allah(S.W.T) bless you and keep you steadfast, sister. Ameen.

Hi. This happens to woman and men from all cultures and nations. Sometimes we need to put our faith or principles into action and put ourselves first. It's so easy to feel trapped because of loyalty and love. Women are softer and more vulnerable than men. We have that nurturing nature. But sometimes us women have to stand up for ourselves and find the strength we never knew we had. We need to learn it's not a sin to take care of ourselves it's not insult to have personal healthy boundaries even to those we love and commit to. Alas this is not easy to do.

@@hirunichamathka5635 Oh, come on sister, do you believe Hadiths like this, these kinds of Hadiths totally contradict the Prophet's Character and Conduct described in the Quran as well as in the Sunnah which is that His way of talking was the best of the best and He never talked to anyone in a bad and ill-manner, not even to his enemies who hated him the most, so how can you expect him to say such things. I advise you that the Hadiths are compilation of narrations from the Sahabas of the Prophet(PBUH) to A to B to C to D to E(examples) and E are Imam Al-Bukhari and Imam Muslim. Now there would have been mistakes in hearing some narrations by Imam Bukhari or these weird Hadiths are just merely Iblees whispers to misguide Muslims from Islam or it might be there was someone in between the narrators who preferred male dominance in Islam so they narrated such Hadiths to certain Muslims that the Prophet(PBUH) said such things but actually He didn't, this can be true, right? So always analyze the Hadith before believing it and compare it to the Quran as the Quran was written in the Prophet's(PBUH) presence, not the Hadiths.

We need to seperate our homes from our parents. But we always stay close to them. What I mean is: the front doors must be seperated. When visiting each other you do this in weekends or in cuma evening once a week. NOT EVERY DAY AND ALL DAY LONG. What I try to say is we need to respect each other's privacy. I really feel sad about this reality as I've known people who basically believe that once you are married to our son you obey and do everything we ask you to do. Endless household chores,not being able to express your thoughts on certain issues,not having anyone to take your side,so many emotional and spiritual abuses as mentioned. May Allah make it easy on you my sister. Tell your husband, give him some chances to talk to his parents, but if he lets them treat you that way, it’s better for you to leave. I’m not encouraging divorce here, but if it reaches an extent where the husband and in laws just treat you like a slave girl and when you make 2 tiny mistake, it’s all over the internet, it’s better for you to leave. Even Islamicly, if there’s nothing left to salvage the marriage, leaving is better for you. Especially if you have kids. Once they reach a certain age, then the husbands parents will start treating them the same way. But first, try to salvage it, try talk to them RESPECTFULLY, (key word: RESPECTFULLY) because if you are not, it will be considered haram. What you can do is speak to them humbly and say “you are my in laws and I love how you let me into this family, but you’re wrong” and you can kiss there head out if respect. Just try hard ti avoid a fight. May Allah reward you for your patience my sister ❤.

Abusive parents come from abusive environments. This is most probably how they were treated and what they witnessed so continue the vicious cycle of behaviour. It is dysfunctional. Someone has to break it. If you recognise it in yourself, then seek Allah's help and make the effort to break it. It isn't easy but it is definitely possible. It requires a different thinking process and as it took years to wire your thoughts in your present way, it may take months and maybe even some years to change those negative thoughts. May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala help us all become the best versions of ourselves. Ameen

My husband mother treated me hurrible over 20 years of my 37 years of marriage I never disrespected her and treated the 3 other daughters in-law the same but they disrespected her when she was sick I was her caregiver and nobody wanted to help her not even her sons my husband verbally has abused me for 35 years of our 37 years and now has dementia and still abuses me and I’m stressed out all the time.I’m a new Muslim and Allah has taught me to forgive him and care for him and that he will make up for all the years of pain and suffering.

I'm sorry to hear that. I know what it's like to be a carer with no one helping. I'm a carer for my parents since I was a teen. Most of my siblings have married and moved out and barely any of them offered to help even when I asked for help. My dad had dementia and it was very hard for me. Sis, I think you should speak out or try to get some online counselling. Please don't think u need to do this all alone. Because people can be very frustrating and it's unfair that u have to do all this. Your mental health matters too.

Yes, a wife should be obedient, loving, and caring toward her husband, but that does not apply to everything. Allah has given us humans a free will to do anything we want to, and if we commit a sin, we will be held accountable for our actions. And just because we are chosen to suffer, that does not mean we have to feel joyful. It's completely normal to feel sad and depressed in such situations. Feeling sad, depressed, or even suicidal does not mean you don't deserve Islam. Sadness is part of what makes us human. No living soul is unfamiliar with it.
