I know and where Flexie said she never learned his name he was always more than the guy with glasses he was the guy I hated. He was one of the most discrimitory and stereotypical of how he treated Naruto. Despite how few times we have seen him he had shown previously that he was begining to change. It seems so simple and yet brialliant how Ebisu got this redemption arc coming to care and respect Naruto so much. Yes it gave me goosebumps too!

Remember, all those ninjas Jiraiya met were as a result of the toad sage prophecy. He wouldn't have gone out on that journey and met those individuals if it wasn't important, so it's not exactly coincidence that pains bodies are all ninjas from Jiraiya's past.

The Paths of Pain don't need to be specific people, the six that Jiraiya encountered happened to be people he had met in his travels (which tbf probably accounts for over half the world's population). Jiraiya just happened to be the first person ever to take one of the Paths permanently out of commission and send the body away.

YES! One of my favourite smaller moments in this arc, is actually from a couple of episodes ago. One nameless Ninja is covered in paper by Konan and after she frees his mouth to ask where Naruto is, he just smirks and tells her to go to hell. Really shows how important Naruto is to the village. That guy could have cried and told her he doesn't know (which would be the truth), but his defiance is what actually shows, that even that unimportant character with 20 seconds screen time, wouldn't sell out Naruto.

Something I love about the Naruto writing is that the B and C tier characters aren’t usually wasted for no reason for the plot by the Big Bad; usually it works for informing the audience and the A tier later. Thematically it works because the primary purpose of a ninja historically was for spying and gathering strategic intelligence. A lot of other anime just have the minor characters get steamrolled by the bad guy just to show how powerful he is

the original 6 Pain bodies all being ninjas that Jiraya knew is admittedly pretty contrived tbh...but a logical explanation would be they were all notorious ninjas in the land where Jiraya had his adventure and were taken down by Pain in his path of becoming the leader of the very same land. They were noteworthy enough for Jiraya to write about them, and noteworthy enough for Pain to choose them as...well as "Pain". But maybe there's more to all that that I just forgot

It's the only way Jiraya could conclude that they were all different people, as in different from Yahiko or Nagato. It was a contrivance to further the plot that was pretty coincidental, but I think it's easy to overlook to service the payoff.

I am very impressed that you figured out Pain's secret and that you remembered that looking right and left was a reference to what Kakashi and Naruto said in their previous training. Though I am supprised that you remember that conversation and don't remember exactly what Kakashi taught Naruto at the time and how it applies here. I might suggest that you react again to that training episode so we can see you put it together. But by now you may already have reached the episode where you see what Naruto is doing to fix the problem.

I love this episode. Im always so moved by Ebisu who's been treated like a joke character when he appears. I love how it shows that he went from seeing Naruto as a nuisance that Ebisu wished would just vanish, to telling Pein to piss off because Naruto is a valued comrade and citizen of the Leaf. And i know a lot of people did not like that Konohamaru defeated a Pein, at least not when this fight came out in the manga and anime. But honestly i love it. Cuz it was straight up ninja. What i mean is the show went back to being about Ninjas for a bit. Konohamaru stayed in the shadows, analyzing his opponent. Despite the fact that he was terrified he suppressed his fear and stayed calm to gather the info he needed to fight his opponent. From there he sent a shadow clone in because he knew Pein's goal was information instead of just slaughter, so he knew Pein wouldn't use his full strength and make the clone pop right away, plus he mostly dodged Pein's attacks, whether out of the strategy of hiding his moves until necessary (as a ninja should) or simply cuz he wasn't skilled enough to counter attack doesn't matter cuz it worked. I believe Konohamaru (or the clone rather) purposely backed into the wall to get caught that way Pein wouldn't have a way to retreat. And when he had him where he wanted him, knowing Pein underestimated him because he could tell Konohamaru is a genin level ninja he was able to land that critical blow with the Rasengan from behind. Konohamaru went back to ninja basics and that's what won him this fight. I think Shikamaru said it waaaaay back in OG Naruto during the Sand Village's attack on the leaf when he, Naruto, Sakura and Pakkun were tracking Sasuke "the level of a ninja doesn't matter if you can pull off a successful ambush" which Konohamaru managed to do.

I don't know if it's in the manga, but I remember there being a few episodes that expanded on Danzo's involvement. There were ROOT Shinobi infiltrating Rain disguised as Iwa Shinobi, and they attacked the fledgling Akatsuki on sight. They were killed in retaliation, and then Danzo told Hanzo that Akatsuki killed his subordinates and basically ordered him to deal with Akatsuki under threat of war. Considering Kishimoto basically created the character of Danzo to be the root of Konoha's problems (see what I did there) I wouldn't be surprised if it was in the manga, and even if it's not I doubt he would disparage that material's existence.

I can understand Danzo's logic of keeping Naruto away and letting Tsunade's luck take it's toll. As Naruto is nowhere near as strong as Jiraiya yet, so that's risky. Even riskier since Tsunade, known for her bad luck, wants Naruto to fight Pain in such short notice. Considering the overall risk, Danzo's plan seems more logical in that sense. Morbid, but I get it.

During the Rasenshuriken training kakashi explained that he naturally has a very large chakra reserve, even without the nine-tails chakra. It's shown when he uses large number of shadow clones and other just without accessing the nine-tails chakra. PS, I know why he has large chakra reserves, so stop posting spoilers about what happens and gets explained later in the series.

Danzo keeps doing his best to trigger the viewers xD Im so glad Ibiki got some action, finally, he is so cool, got crazy abilities, just a shame the opponent wasnt right, but it was still nice :P the ANBU showed some nice combo but again PAIN is just outclassing us :D then we got to see the true OGs fight, Ebisu and Konohamaru, crazy to think they first appeared in episode 2 and got to know Naruto, they have both grown quite a lot :) very lovely feeling that Ebisu respects Naruto so much now and cares about him, Konohamaru ofc looks up to him and and is trying to follow in his footsteps, mastering the Rasengan is quite the achievement, our guys finally got a W :)

The five bodies other than Yahiko's being people Jiraiya briefly considered might be revolutionaries based on a precursory glance before delving slightly deeper disavowed him of the notion was nothing more than plot convenience. They had to be the bodies of people that Jiraiya would have a believable chance of recognizing under the right circumstance so that Jiraiya could have the epiphany he did at the end. It's not like they're blank puppets with some jutsu cast on them that makes them appear to be notable people from their opponent's past, otherwise Kakashi wouldn't have seen Yahiko in Tendo. Since Tendo is the 'leader' of Nagato's corpse puppet troupe, if it worked like that he probably would have seen either Minato or Sakumo. Though I supposed it would have been poetic in a way if Kakashi fought what looked like his father and then met his father for real after the fight.

Legitimately I got through all of Shippuden no problem. Firstly, it's Asian anime. A character is basically never dead. Fights have 19 ends in them. I just watch until the last episode or until it gets ridiculous to me. Second, I legitimately did not know Kakashi died. Lmao Like I know he got hit with the pin or whatever, but they CONSTANTLY show shadow clones die and hype this "AHH, SO THIS IS THE FATE OF THE GREAT COPY NINJA OF THE HIDDEN LEAF????" Like no??
