Robert Taylor (1911-1969) was an American actor who starred in a variety of films during Hollywood's Golden Age. He was known for his handsome looks and commanding presence on screen, and he became a popular leading man in both dramatic and romantic roles. Some of his most notable films include "Camille" (1936), "Waterloo Bridge" (1940), and "Quo Vadis" (1951). Taylor was also a favorite of director MGM, where he spent the majority of his career, and he was often paired with some of the studio's most famous leading ladies, such as Joan Crawford and Lana Turner. In addition to his successful film career, Taylor also made appearances on television in the 1950s and 1960s.

I was 5 years old and met him at the Brentwood Mart. I saw this tall man wearing a cowboy hat and I was stunned. I started talking to him ...not knowing who he was.... He sat down next to me by the fire pit in the open courtyard. My Mother was with me and was awe struck by him. Robert Taylor was my Mom's favorite actor. I still remember talking to him and his cowboy hat. He was very friendly ...a nice man.

My grandfather lived in Filley, NE and told me that he used to babysit Robert Taylor as a baby. After visiting Filley, I can see why he babysat because there was so few people living in that very small town although my mother was born there.

I never rated Robert Taylor as an actor. I cannot think of one movie that he appeared in that stood out. I would say he was a lightweight actor and doesn't compare with any of the movie greats. His relatively early death was self- inflicted, as he was a very heavy smoker.

I don't agree with you. Robert Taylor was a very talented and versatile actor. I remember a lot of movies with RT - Camille, A Yank at Oxford, Three Comrades, Waterloo Bridge, Ivanhoe, Quo Vadis, Westward the women, Above and Beyond, Many rivers to cross, Bataan and many others. Very good movies with very good actors. RT was one of the most handsome actors!
