Finally, at age 62, this has become obvious after a lifetime of misdiagnoses. I went from RA to Lupus, back to RA, then Dermatitis Myositis?, Crohns, ending with Collagenous Colitis. The odd acute arthritis in the shoulders/elbows developed shortly before being hospitalized from septic shock. The sepsis developed from Staph Aureus entering the blood stream from the intestines. One elbow was permanently damaged while in the hospital. My granddaughter calls it my Barbie arm, because it's permanently bent like some of her dolls. The psoriasis first appeared on my legs a month after being released from the hospital. It took 4mths to remove the staph Aureus bacteria which completely infiltrated all muscles/organs up to 90% of the body. I had to learn to walk again due to permanent damage to the spine. Now, I find myself here learning how to get control over the psoriasis. I've always had inflammatory arthritis since childhood in most joints, but the elbows and psoriasis have occurred only in the past two years. No one in my family has ever heard of arthritis in the elbows. The psoriasis is mostly on the legs and torso. Now, that I know what it is, I think I've always had it. In the past, it was short lived. I thought it was an allergy to certain soaps and reactions to the sun.

Very appreciated on both of your insights as after being hospitalised 13 times and discharged the same. Infectious Disease Team were in charge of the MRI BLUE DYE SCAN which the outcome was of the lower spine so a abscess the size of a golf ball(bottom of spine) Discitis Infection within 3 Vertebrae 3 Cannula of Antibiotics PLUS A PIKT LINE INTO MY CHEST FROM MY ARM TOO. Rheumatology specialist wanted me TOTALLY DISCHARGED from I.D.T before Rheumatology start the Methotrexate. He diagnosed me in 20 minutes and the receptionist printed off a advised pamphlet on Erosive Psoriatic Arthritis...I WAS AMAZED BY THAT BOMB WHICH WAS DROPPED.

Anybody else get psoriatic arthritis in their knees and elbows after the Covid shot it seemed to coincide with it, too much of a coincidence , after my first dose start getting sore second shot felt like I was walking. On broken glass. It was excruciating. it’s been two years now and it’s settling down a bit still suffering with major fatigue. how about the rest of you?

PA is an inflammatory disease where the immune system is in overdrive 24/7. Anything that causes the immune system to work harder can cause a flare up if inflammation. So getting sick, vaccinations, stress…that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get vaccines, though. Can you imagine what a bad case of covid will do if just the immune response to a vaccine caused so much pain?

I grew up in Bosnia and in Serbia. I've never heard about psoriatic arthritis until I came to the States. Now I often hear people back there being diagnosed with it. Weird.

I just reached the part where you discuss medications. I do not tolerate Methotrexate, and refuse to try it again. Cartexan helped tremendously, but lowered kidney function to 62%. I am currently left with Prednisone as the only helpful medication, and it's known for bad side effects.

Try biologics?
@LemonThyme19334 ай бұрын
@@ashchenari1499 Thanks. I took them many years ago, but currently live in a country where they are not available. On biologics, I still required prednisone and sulfasalazine.

Jak inhibitors like Olumiant doesn't require methotrexate to work. It's helping me some. I was able to cut pain medication by half when I started the jak inhibitor.

In my case it happened ALL AT ONCE. I'm 55. Had a parvo19 infection, after that all my joints remained swollen, all of them, toes, fingers, wrists knees even shoulders. Before that, I never ever had even a single complaint, after that, I could hardly turn in my bed. Now I've got a diagnose so I guess I'll be fine but I'm 4 months in and it's just everywhere, all at once.
@Aj_axton2 ай бұрын
I had parvovirus before symptoms aswell
@georgeoreilly15462 ай бұрын
@@Aj_axton Diagnosis showed that the parvo-virus came and went but just triggered psoriatic arthritis all over the place and it went chronic straight away.

Change your diet. Eliminate dairy, wheat, nightshades (tomato eggplant potato capsicum chilli), really reduce your diet, reduce sugar and coffee. If possible eat more anti inflammatory foods, Brazil nuts, leafy greens, tumeric, look up certain foods that may help. This is the easiest way to get big results fast. No medications. I noticed a big change within a few days.

After trying plaquenil and methotrexate which lowered my white blood cells. My rheumatologist put me on cosentyx 150mg im. My insurance did no approve the loading dose, therefore I just went straight to the maintenance dose. It was working fine until 3 months ago when the psoriasis flared up. I also developed dry eye and mouth. My doctor now wants to rule out Sjogren's syndrome. I also jad two positive ANA. My doctor does not suspect Lupus.

You guys mentioned liver issues could be associated with psoriatic arthritis. Could fatty liver lead to it or trigger it? From your description I don't think I have psoriatic arthritis. Mine looks just like common eczema. And it's on a top of my hands, knuckles, all the way to my first finger joints. I lost gallbladder years ago. And I have NAFLD. Had it for over a decade. But that was my fault. I overeat. I used to be a baker. So I'm used to eating a lot of sugars. Through grains and sweats. In addition I've had seborrheic dermititis since I was 13 or 14.

why dint you discussed NSAID
@spyboyzunwanted2 ай бұрын
Because in case of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis NSAID's are not applicable. It increases the progression of Psoriasis and PsA. Similarly there are some medications which worsen Psoriasis and PsA like beta blockers (Blood pressure medicine) and some antivirals. Like this some NSAID's are also forbidden to use in Psoriasis and PsA. But some are applicable such as Etoricoxib for pain related of PsA.
