I'd say the standby battery going down overnight happens more when you leave things like Wi-Fi, Data, Bluetooth etc on. I typically turn off all of my wireless communication when I go to sleep (except for the actual cell reception), that is if I don't charge the phone or turn it off overnight. I've been using an LG G6 for about 2 years, and generally I've noticed that that's been a constant problem. I love the phone, but recently it's been plagued with issues. I don't know if it's all that common, but for example, I can barely charge/fast-charge reliably, and I sometimes the phone will die as high as 5-7% battery.

This is probably the best all around phone I've used: Stereo speakers, head phone jack, good battery life, big beautiful screen, expandable storage, good cameras, SD 855. It's checks all the boxes + you can get them on eBay for $350-400. The only complaints I have are the UI (easily fixed with Nova launcher), notch, and slow updates.
@ArthurZakaryan234 жыл бұрын
I too saw these going on eBay for that price range also and now I'm seriously considering it as my next phone but there are only 2 variants, Sprint and Verizon and while Verizon's has more LTE bands on-board, it doesn't have what I need for AT&T and I'm not about to go back to Sprint (main reason being inconsistent reception in my area and no free mobile hotspot like I have with AT&T). There is a Korean variant but that's going for around $600 on eBay but I haven't checked if the LTE bands on that are any more favorable for AT&T users here in the states. For $650 that same Korean model is being sold with the dual screen case accessory.

@shawnwilliams70215 жыл бұрын
April Knight 100% agree, the V35 may be my favorite LG phone ever. I know the purist will get on me since the V10 and V20 are held in such high regard but overall I really enjoyed the V35. I think the fact it was locked to AT&T when it came out hindered sales but AT&T did not like the G7 that came out that year and pushed LG to make the V35 and I’m glad they did. I no longer have the V35 and regret selling it, I may grab one now off Swappa after seeing this vid. Oh, I heard the V35 was getting Pie, did that happen?
@aprilknight92405 жыл бұрын
Shawn Williams yes it now has Pie. Amazon has new unlocked ones for $299 currently. It’s an incredible device. My only complaint is the loudspeaker which is very tinny, but the Quad DAC makes up for it. Google Lens got new features on the V35 as well.

You are wrong about quad dac. Quad dac means 4 dacs for 4 different things. One for audio through that headphone jack, one for loudspeaker, one for phone audio and one for something else I dont remeber. Over and above this, lg is using a high quality amplifier which recognizes the power requirement of your headphones and drive them accordingly. Dac and amplifier are two different things. Lg has been using quad dac plus amp setup since v10

I have had the V30 for slightly over 2 years and never had an issue with it. Great phone! Does everything I need it for. Right now it's just very unfortunate that At&T does not carry the V50 any longer. I'd have to switch to Verizon if I want to get this phone. They told me they don't sale too many LG's because to compete with apple and Samsung requires a major marketing investment and LG is not up there. Somehow they've survived but could end up like Sony or HTC. AT&T carried them for a while but they (sony/ htc) just couldn't keep up with the big competitors because the lack of a strong marketing budget to make it a true success. Reason why they stopped investing on the making of smart phones.

Hey Jason, great review! I have the V30 and was just seeing what LG are doing for 5G. The V50 will be on my horizon when 5G gets more established. Just a wee correction required with your terminology. The DAC (Digital to Analogue Converter) is just responsible for doing what it's name suggests. It does not provide more power for high impedance headphones. (I too have the Sennheiser HD600s. Also have an audio engineering diploma, 35 years experience as a musician / audiophile and computer engineer) Nor does it detect your headphone impedance. That's handled by other circuits in the phone. The Quad DAC just uses multiple stages of oversampling, interpolation and error correction. The phone's audio amplifier is the thing you're referring too. It's pretty good, but not as good as the DAC the feeds it. The amp seems to have a fairly low slew rate in that it can't deliver the sort of transient power that a really good amp will. Great for a phone though and in another league to the iPhone 5S I had previously! I'm pleased the audio jack is still in the V50, proving LG really do care about audio! I listen to a lot of 24bit/192KHz wav files on my phone. Apple can't handle anything higher than 24bit/48KHz, so is great for people who actually put up with shitty MP3s and compressed audio. But for those who enjoy quality music, It's either LG or a dedicated personal audio player costing more than the phone itself! Cheers, Pete

I still got V30, I bought it for two reasons - ultra wide camera and quad DAC, nowadays almost every flagship has ultra wide camera but audio jacks are disappearing from everywhere... and that's why I am not sure when and which phone will I buy next, so I like that LG is still doing it their way. And I don't even have some fancy Sennheiser, just a 50 ohms Sony headphones but the difference in volume and sound quality is stunning. And what's most important, V30 still get Android 9, so maybe, just maybe, the old OS will be the reason to buy something new, maybe V50 next year when prices goes down or maybe V60, who knows, but I realy don't want to lose that audio jack, even though I am starting feeling weird, because literally everyone is buying wireless headphones and nobody understands me :D

Lou and MKHD seem to really have an issue with a LG and they don't seem to hide the bias. Which I think is really a disservice to their subscribers. I've owned the g6, v30 and I'm using the g8 to seems this and I came from using a Note and haven't regretted my switch yet!

I like the v50, it is a good phone, but the only issue I have with it is that you can't buy it unlocked or on T-Mobile

I wouldn't even mind if the unlocked version was fast 4glte only

They'll cover when it goes down to 500$ which is usually around 2 weeks after an LG phone phone launch. I've enjoyed the G6 and 7, but they get no support or marketing from LG themselves so they shouldn't rely on the tech community to do it for them. You can't get it here in the UK either. Or the G8!

re cases, yes. on my v40 I had a lovely spigen with a kickstand. Wanted a spigen with kickstand for my v50, no such luck, had to get a Supcase beetle unicorn pro case (and remove the vile plastic screen protector with boiling water to melt the glue!) Its an ok case, chunky, but no way as professional feeling as my v40 spigen one. Pity. Great phone though. I love a good DAC
