This cake looks amazing. I think making the crayon box, and the top paintbrush edible would have made it even better though.

Excellent tutorial! Thank you so much for sharing. I set up my first cake board with the rod today. It worked perfectly to keep my space rocket upright. This was an 18 inch tall cylinder of cake! I had to drive it an hour away, too. Perfect! I used some cute wood napkin rings for the little feet :)

Excellent! So glad to hear it worked for you :) it’s a great technique to use for those types of cakes. Especially when you have to travel far with them!

Oh, it is really very complicated work and is looking very original✨🌛 Great work👌. You know, lately, I've started watching many videos of various pastrycooks and then quite a number of ideas began to come up to me myself✨🌛(I am not a pastrycook at all). And now another new idea came to me and I'd like to share it with you: Cake with jelly and tunnel: I imagined a tunnel through all of the cake and a long pipe (made of isomalt) passing through the cake(into that tunnel) and comes out from both sides looking like two curved down horns(sorry for my bad english). And there is an aquarium under those two brunches of the pipe. But that's not all: there is a third pipe's brunch that comes from the middle of the tunnel and goes out of the bottom of the aquarium. And all that pipe and aquarium are filled with sea-coloured jelly(with some fishes, sea-grass and so on). And there is a gold-coloured phrase in the aquarium - INFINITE CREATION.🌞 By the way, I am not an engineer as well. So, this cake idea, probably, may not work out well😬.

Did you use your own marshmallow fondant for covering the cakes?
@piplimukhopadhyay16557 жыл бұрын
awesome. can I use cake instead of the crayon box? would the method be the same like the crayon box?
@cakingandbaking11467 жыл бұрын
+Pipli Mukhopadhyay yes you can definitely use cake for the crayon box. Make sure you put a bolt, washer and cake board under each cake. :)

Thank you for this tutorial. Can you share how to make the custom edible image? Thanks
@cakingandbaking11466 жыл бұрын
I made these images in Microsoft word. I used a “paint splatter” image and wrote the words with the font I wanted. I then printed them on my edible printer with icing sheets. Hope that helps

Just curious..do you ask for the rod and wood board back or are those all included in the price quoted to customers and they get to keep them?
@cakingandbaking11465 жыл бұрын
I include that in the price and they keep it. But I suppose you could ask for a deposit on the hardware and give the deposit back when they return the hardware.....

How many days did it take for you to make this whole cake? Timeframe pls.
@cakingandbaking11466 жыл бұрын
It probably took me about 12 hours total. The crayons and things on the board were made ahead of time and so was the internal structure. The actual cakes and assembly probably took 8 hours.

I saw your cake on a FB forum, amazing! Structured cakes is something I have wanted to do for years but couldn't get my head around, slowly getting there. Can I ask what you covered the thread pipe in? Cheers, Louise.
@louiseking29277 жыл бұрын
Just watched it full screen and can see it's the normal thread pipe, thought it looked covered in something after you assembled it. That's great, I need to get trying this method! Once I get my head around the bolts and threads, washers and what drill bits to get I should be fine.
@cakingandbaking11467 жыл бұрын
+Louise King it's really a lot easier than it looks :) just make sure to plan your assembly we'll before starting. No I didn't cover the thread bar directly with anything, I just used the large straws inside the cake to slide over the bar so that the cake didn't touch the bar.
@louiseking29277 жыл бұрын
That is great, I have found a cake I want to try BUT the floating cake is 'off center' so the thread bar goes up from the board and the thread bar doesn't go up the center of the cake, it goes up the side. So I don't know how the weight of the cake doesn't pull down, would I need some sort of extension arm or plate for the whole cake to sit on? Hope that makes sense haha. I will not let this beat me, I have wanted to master it for a few years and I feel it's a must haha
@cakingandbaking11467 жыл бұрын
+Louise King it depends how off centre the cake is and what exactly the design is. The second cake I stacked in this video was about 1.5 inches off centre (that was on a 6" cake, so the bar was only 1.5 inches from the edge of the cake). As long as your board is flat there should not be any weight pulling on the cake. If your board is not going to be flat make sure you use a sense cake and stiff filling (I would recommend ganache). Hopefully that all makes sense, good luck!
@louiseking29277 жыл бұрын
Yeah going to ganache the cake, I am all set to go, figured out how to do it very off center, only 2-3cm from the edge of the board. Going to make it next week, SOOO excited, my first floating cake. You can see it on my FB page if you like :) -- King's Cake House. Should be uploaded about Sat or Sunday next week.

The edible parts are excellent. I am not however a fan of paint brushes and crayons.
@carmenpaez97196 жыл бұрын
How did you attach the brush on the top? I can see the metal pole, and some color, but I don't think that only the ganache can support the wight of the brush. Can it?
@cakingandbaking11466 жыл бұрын
The paintbrush I used was a really cheap lightweight brush and I used some thick ganache and some candy melts to secure it. The ganache wasn’t great but the candy melts worked well.
@carmenpaez97196 жыл бұрын
I can't believe it! Candy melts can hold that thing? WOW!
