I'm not so sure about genius but thank you. I believe this video is missing another way to optimize the scene though. The instances you can set to multi-instances if you have the correct version of C4D and the viewport will be smoother with heavier scenes.

@@cwgochris71 Speedtree is the program that the grass came from. Another option that is useful for creating foliage is the Plant Factory. Both very useful programs if foliage is what you are wanting.

I've watched while working. So may be not been enough careful but it doesn't work for me. The main thing is using any polygon object as hair shape, isn't it? I use R19.068. In cloner object mode there is no "count" tab. The counting is in "volume" method and it does not work. Did i miss something?

It is possible that R19 broke this method however you aren't using a polygon object as a hair shape. The hair is used essentially as a null object placeholder that is used as a vessel for storing the location information of where the cloned objects should be placed. Unfortunately I do not have access to R19 so its difficult for me to help.

What version of C4D are you using?
