Really enjoyed this video . Great work and I recently used this method on my last build Trumpeters 1/35 T-62 BDD 1984 . I used Tamiya XF paints starting with Hull Red then like yourself sealing with gloss or Klear floor polish in my case an AK worn effects fluid and used 3 different shades of green . I have to say I was very pleased with the result and having watched your work it is impressive. I'm going to try this method on my next build the Israeli M51 Super Sherman . Thanks so much for posting your work and I look forward to the next one.

Many thanks, I used the lacquer thinner as it was tougher than normal thinner and dried quick, plus I have had it for ages without using it. Its sometimes difficult to post stuff your not too sure of, but going forward I want to share more of these efforts even if they go wrong ie chipping #2. There will be one more in the series were I will weather the kit. Glad you like my approach. Thanks for support.

Hi mate just a wee tip about the AK worn effects I want to pass on that I've now experienced with 4 bottles now! Keep it in the fridge honestly I know it sounds weird bit I've had 4 bottle go off on me now and my new 4th was used 3 times and sat for a couple months but with the heat through summer and the heat of the heating in house in winter there it's cooked them! They stink! Full of like cobwebs strings in bottles and the paint now cracks when layed over the top of them that's the first sign that there going off before the smell comes! You might experience this yourself be great to know if you do! The worn effects are my favourite to use I'm gutted I've got off bottles they have to be some sort of glycerin or something food based! The new bottle is doing fine in in the fridge after opening its lasted 3 weeks now since was opened that's longer than the last one so just keep an eye out for this! As soon as it gets abit thicker when going off you'll know because the paint on tip has like end shell cracking coming through when dries!

@@ctscalemodellinguk ya man that kind of weathering is just too time intensive to be at it all the time, just inst enough hours in the day lol

I have see you can use hairspray instead of chipping fluid does it work the same as its a lot cheaper and quiker???

Think it depends on the brand and making sure the paint is thin, usually making it need a couple of paint chip coats. Tresemme works well.

@ctscalemodellinguk
@ctscalemodellinguk 2 жыл бұрын
Cheers it depends, generally around 15-20psi. If its fine work I’ll go a bit lower. Its more to do with the feel of the paint really. I still have bad paint days too. Help?

@ctscalemodellinguk
@ctscalemodellinguk 2 жыл бұрын
Hi me too. Was trying to move away from pre shading as an experiment and really distress the paint work. The 3 colours gives you contrast and not a uniform finish. I haven’t started weathering it yet, so should improve further. Take a look at my panzer IV, it gets nice results probably quicker.🙂
