Thanks Mr.S! I just don’t really do much of the “clickbait”, but it’s more of a personal thing. Sometimes it can be pretty explanatory in a way. But for some reason I can’t bring myself to it.

The opening two shots of this are an amazing example of tension and resolution. You're going "how the fuck does this dude sit down on chairs" then a dramatic shot reveals that it was a kökssoffa all along and he couldn't have gotten into it any other way. Absolutely brilliant. A story told in every frame.

"Oil goes on the balistas. Not on keeping the leathers soft." I love your immersion. To me, immersion is the core of why I love warhammer - but I often find that some painters don't spend much time on envisioning where their models live, so it is great to see that you also share this love for immersiveness.

It’s actually so awesome that you’ve posted this as 1. I love your content and 2. I’ve been holding off on painting a model that my partner got for me that was quite expensive and I was worried my paint job wouldn’t do her justice. I came to the conclusion that she would be more happy to see me actually slap paint onto it and be content with it because I’m actually using what she got me. I gave up on trying to be a perfectionist and rather go with my own artistic style and flaws for the model and it has been so freeing. Such a great feeling knowing that I’m not painting to impress someone else but rather to make myself and also my partner happy. Thank you!

Alex, very good video. I'll be honest, I really like to see you painting, not to copy, but to understand the techniques. I love to see you creating your own contrast paints, and more to understand the concepts and the way you think. Until today I have only painted the minis by following the tutorial videos or the box photos. I just have bought a new kit where there are no tutorials on youtube, no photos, only some colorful drawings. Watching your videos I have been encouraged to test myself and do just what you say in the video, and I will paint with everything I have. It will be a challenge for me. Thanks

Thank you! To see a video where the painter “just” paints a miniature per se, without it forcefully being a guide aiming to “achieve this/that technique” is relaxing and helps focusing as well as providing inspiration to just start one’s own work! I appreciated the fact that despite the speed up and the necessary editing, your video managed to convey the amount of work, thought, attempts, cleanup, and TIME spent on painting the miniature. It does not provide a “model to aim to” (like “omg this guy is such a pro”) as much as a “dude who has the same hobby as I do” feeling. If I may add, I totally LOVED the close up shots at the end of the video. No panning shots, no turning around, just static frames for 2-5 seconds. If I may humbly suggest, it would be great to have a section like this at the end of the video, with the close up shots of the finished work, and just silence. It allows me as a viewer to let all the details sink in, as a form of “meditation” and closure of the video. It was great to hear your storytelling but I think I would have enjoyed much more having been able to contemplate your mini in silence for a minute or so, pondering on all that went into its painting. Again, thanks for the good time you had me spend here! Best

Thank you Simon, I’m glad this format worked. Sometimes, for me, it’s just nice to paint a mini and not have to think to much about “content creation”. Anyway. I like your idea... we’ll see... it’s one of the reasons I have the Instagram, but it’s not quite the same. I’ll ponder :)

I like your videos because there´s no bullsh!t in them: you dont try to share a secret about painting minis, you dont try to explain to us why we NEED certain paints, or certain brushes, etc etc. You genuinely share your painting experience, your process, but you dont sell it. I feel i´m being talked honestly and with the understanding that your experience is just that, an experiencie, and that everything can be so diferent inside just one part of a big hobby. When I watch your videos I dont think "ok, this is the correct and only way to do it", instead is more like "oh well, he did it this way, I think i´ll give it a chance making my own way having this in mind" and thats really important because in a hobby like this everyone is unique and so are the paths we decide to take when starting a new painting project. There are very few youtubers that are careful enough to have this in mind, by the looks of the videos. so thank you.

Great video once again! If you want the highest highlights on the armor as bright as possible I suggest using a heavy body acrylic white. The "body" of the paint makes it reflect more light. EDIT: you used white oil paint to get a similar effect on the cloak. Oil paint also works because it has more "body" than most acrylics.

"Paint with everything you've got," as you define it, is particularly cool in that it applies just as well to a beginner as an advanced painter. If heeded, that advice will ensure that each painting session will help the artist improve. Also: staying on the edge of your skills helps keep the boundaries of your current "tool bag" clear, and can illuminate the way forward. And, as others have noted, the low-angle tracking shot was a seriously slick way to plunk us down into your stream of consciousness, start-to-finish painting session.
@52Miniatures
@52Miniatures 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks V! I hope so. Also to consider how all the different colours on a mini affect each other. Like.. I didn't paint the white to completion until everything else was in place. Thank you. This is a great video, showing your thoughts while painting, while not as visual as your others it certainly mentally stimulating. Showing the process of doing an entire mini from start finish with this what I was thinking is just as important as the ancient glowy eye technique. I just picked up a brush again just recently and your video have inspired me (I even picked up visual diary to record my colours).
