❀ materials used:
- glass panel (from picture frame)
- Liquitex Basics acrylic paint
- Craftsmart oil-based paint pen in black
- paintbrushes
- Q-tips & rubbing alcohol (for mess ups)
❀ faqs:
"does it matter which side you paint on?"
- nope it doesn't! but the outline and paint go on the SAME side
"can i use a sharpie/acrylic paint for the outline? will it smudge?"
- i've seen some people use sharpies and it seemed to work fine but i'm not sure if it smudges or not. i would NOT recommend using acrylic paint for the outline bc it would take waaaay too long & most likely smudge. use any oil-based/permanent paint pen and it likely won't smudge!
"how do you mix the skin tone colour?"
- i mixed red, yellow, a bit of blue (basically all primary colours) and white

Do the paints have good opacity or do they have to be passed several times? Should we wait for the first layer to dry before doing the skin for example?

thank u so much for watching!! 🤗 hmm if its a thin layer i think acrylic will only take maybe 15-20 min to dry. but for the whole painting i'd wait 1-2 hrs just in case!

This is amazing omg ❤️ I really want to try glass painting, I wasn’t sure how much paint I’d need to get started, would you only recommend starting out with primary and some secondary colours? I know acrylic paint is fairy inexpensive but buying one of every colour available could get pretty pricey lol!

thank you 🥰 hmm tbh if you're comfortable with it i would just recommend getting the primary colours (red, blue, yellow), white and black! since that's all you really need to mix the other colours yourself! but you can also just get the colours you think you'll need to start off with too 😊

I just painted and all my outlines are smudge in the inner layer (like inside the skin layer) so i had to scrape literally everything 🥲, is it okey if I paint on the opposite side of the outline side so it will not get smudge?

Wow, I recently watched this. And you video is informational. Have you tried a clear primer or sealant on glass so you can try to draw better on the glass because it is really hard to draw on glass with a sharpie. or please if you have a time to make a video for it? thank you for this informational video.

hmm i personally prefer thinner layers for small areas (ie shading) bc i feel like i have more control. but globs help for larger areas and it'll be faster 😂

thank u 🥰 it depends on the color! i find some colors (ie, white/black) are quite opaque, whereas others are a bit more streaky on glass! (ie, yellow)

Hi there 😘 did you think about using glass paint ? Once your design is done you can pop it in the oven to fix the colours. Hang it on a window and let the sun ⛅ shining through. Beautiful 🥰

So I don’t know what I was doing wrong, but when I started painting on my glass there were areas that were see-through, and my paint job wasn’t even, I was using acrylic paints but I don’t know if I was doing it wrong, but the paint job was uneven, do you have any advice on how to get the paint to show up solid

you would just need to apply a thicker coat of paint! some paints aren't as opaque, so if that's the case you might need to glob it on there or wait a few min and do several coats :)

you don't have to draw it on your own. you can just print out a drawing or a screenshot of a scene (that's what i did), tape it under the glass and trace it. just make sure to give credit to the original artist if you plan on posting it online and obviously don't try to sell it. hope this helped :)

hmm i would try smth with minimal shading (bc i think that might be the trickiest part) and less detailed! u dont have to paint characters, u can also do objects too and it might be simpler :)

I just started my first glass painting using the same paint pen and my lineart still got all cracked and faded after adding paint 🙃 honestly I’m very frustrated. But I’m hoping a second attempt will be better

I keep having the same issue too. I’m finding that if you let the marker fully dry and even go in with a second coat, & be as gentle as possible with adding your acrylic paint, that should help!

oof i feel u so hard on this LOL tbh i just used a makeup wipe, or even a cotton pad with some alcohol/hand sanitizer to wipe it! but be careful with the alcohol not to get it on the paint!!
