Great how to video. Here's a helpful hint : In a tight spot, you may find it difficult to line up the holes in the bracket with those of the motor. It is hard to hold up the motor / tank assembly to the right height while you try and get the bolts started. I shimmed up the assembly with some pieces of cardboard to get the holes lined up and it made it much easier. Good luck. Thanks

You're very welcome it definitely helped clear up my issues. If it continues after the cleaning you will most likely need to remove the control valves on the bottom of the pumps. They are super is to remove just don't loose the little check valve balls that are inside (1 in each valve). When removed and both lines disconnect take an air compressor to them and blow out all the pathways. It gets out all the gunk or debris if any made it into the pump body itself.

Changed the battery in my remote today after not fishing for a few months. Tested the remote and one pump sounds super weak. Barely wants to go up or down. Boat is four years old and the fluid has never been changed. Thanks for this video. I’m thinking this is my problem because your dirty fluid looks clean compared to what’s in the reservoirs of mine. Really good video. Gave me confidence I could replace the fluid in mine, as it has began to make noise. Man was the fluid dark and nasty! The only thing I did different is screw the tank on before filling it up so I could turn the pump sideways to get that tiny 1/4" back in with my fat fingers (after smearing the gasket with fluid like you said). I had a few moments of suspense when I primed the pump-took several cycles then BOOM - works perfectly now. Appreciate you taking the time to make an exact instruction video. One of the best I've seen. Thanks!

You're welcome and that should do the trick. Those screens are probably gummed up pretty bad. If you want to make sure they are really good unscrew the control valves and blow air through the pump where they screw in, to blow out any clogs or debris.

This a good video just and FYI if you contact JL marine they will send you new valves to replace them completely so you do not have to clean. All the poles have life time warranty so no money out of pocket.

Thanks and I know they will. The part that I cleaned is the filters to the gear drive which powerpole won't send out, that's a factory repair item. The 3 other valves they will send you. I now have those new valves just haven't installed them yet. The next time I change fluid I'll be changing out the old control valves for the new versions.

@InfiniteBassin3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. If you would have watched all the way through you would have heard me mention the wrench sizes a couple of times. If you've ever done maintenance on your powerpoles they only use 2 or 3 different sizes for everything. Go back in the video where I took the fluid lines off the pumps. Those are the only 2 wrenches you need for this job and the sizes were mentioned so no need to stand on your head just watch the video.

One of the most important things to any boat or equipment on your boat is proper maintenance, no matter what brand you buy.
@InfiniteBassin4 жыл бұрын
Thats right especially with these pumps. Once they start getting noisy you better get on the maintenance. The longer they run like that the worse off you will be and have to send it back for a rebuild.

If they make any noise from the pump other than the standard low pump operation noise you hear they need to be cleaned or inspected. It's a high pitch whine, you'll notice the difference it gets loud compared to standard operation.

Do you have a cutoff switch just for your power poles? Or are they connected to the boats master cutoff switch? I'm thinking about installing one so each time I turn on my master switch the poles do not come on.
