Painted Bunting Migration Patterns, and when you can expect to see them.

We have been lucky to have these beautiful birds visit our feeder every fall in East Central Florida. I'm not sure how adult males there are. They don't share the feeder. But we see many females and juveniles. They seem to prefer white millet.

Same here!! I’ve had about 6 at a time at the feeder this the most I’ve ever seen! White millet is their fave. I’ve had mostly females and juveniles as well, but I did have 2 brightly colored males.

In Tallahassee ive had at least 6 (likely more) painted buntings all winter long. Its been so amazing

The males are so exciting to find! Idk why but I always see more females than I see males as well! I usually get one male and multiple females.

A couple of years ago, I had a male hang around my backyard feeder for a month, starting just after Christmas. Saw a female once the following Spring. This was in coastal NC (Havelock). I reported them to Cornell. Got unbelievable video of the male on my window feeder with a GoPro just inside the window!

East central GA, Augusta area and westward have Painted Buntings. We have them every year, about 25 miles and more west of Augusta GA.

Im in SWFL.N Ft Myers..I noticed painted buntings last year at our feeder around mid October. This year Fall of 23 I saw my 1st pair at our feeder Dec 6th..the bird feeder was moved anout 15ft from the orginal 1st fall/winter migration..i adore these beauties . The big fat morning doves seem to scare the buntings off the feeder, squirrels, cardinals, bluejays, catbirds. Everyone enjoys the seeds..

I do feel like the PBs were much later this fall than last! I saw some as early as September last year. This year they didn't show up till mid October in my neighborhood, and in the yard November.

We have been blessed for the past several years with ten + Painted Buntings. There are no beautiful Buntings this year. I hope they are ok.

We have as well! This year they were definitely later than usual. They did finally Make it to the keys late October. I’ve got 2 females visiting daily so far.
