I love the movie The Painted Skin, The Resurrection released in 2012 I think.... Wonder whether this drama will narrate the same story?In that movie, there was a love triangle between a human princess, her general and a vixen(who yearned to turn human)...😅

Hi 👋: Very much looking forward to both black-and-white forest and blossom. I just hope they premiere on platforms we're able to watch with English subs. The thing with blossom I saw yesterday is that it's very much like KP I think like there's a former life and a current life. Not 100% sure but that's what it seemed from some of the trailers. Painted skin (I've seen the mini film by GJM but I'm not sure this is the same thing as that) is really Veil of Shadows and it doesn't have a synopsis save something rolling around the Internet that we can't confirm but the good thing is that all four leads have equal billing so hopefully their fans won't complain at least about that. Today or 12/4 is TJR's 26th Birthday and his fans have already decorated some warehouse on set so it should be interesting to see how that goes down. We've already seen some of the costumes for the 4 leads and one support. They're quite awesome but this is GJM after all and he doesn't ever skimp on budget for costumes. Congratulations to the two that got married. That was actually quite fast. Didn't they just get engaged this summer? But all the very best to them. Thanks for the update. Keep us posted on everything premiering; it's good to get back into watching things as I've been on a hiatus since PG ended on the 22nd. 😊

I've watched all versions of painted skin, including Edward Guo's short version. The first one is the best, and I think Edward's version was pretty unique and dark. Knowing his style, I imagine this remake will be in a similar vein.

Thanks for the update Marcus, Painted Skin is indeed a Chinese classic that is well adapted. I believe GJM already made a short movie version a couple of years ago but he role reversed it so that the fox demon is a man. Looks like from this casting, he is going to tell the story the conventional way where the fox demon is a woman. Without a GJM twist to it, I think it may be hard to stand out from the many other adaptations. Not to mention JJY and ZSX collaborating again gives me PTSD - their last drama together was one of the worst I ever watched. I won't bother watching Day and Night 2 if the Douban score is only 7.0. Season 1 was something like a 9.0 and it was so long ago I will need to re-watch at least part of it to remember where it left off. Enjoying See Her Again if nothing else for all the Beyond songs, omg what an excellent trip down memory lane! Never thought that highly of William Chan's acting but he really is much more comfortable in Canto and he does a really good job in this one. The Blossom director usually makes short dramas, many of which had terrific plots with really good twists but he also tends to stray into topics that are bound to struggle with censorship. I will check it out to see how he does with long form content. Have a good week.

I watched and liked GJM's short movie version because it was so dark and the role reversal was interesting. I agree that without his style, it would be hard for the remake to stand out, but I'm also really curious why he chose to do another remake of a title he's already done. JJY looks quite stunning in her costume, so I can see why he chose her.

Historical inaccuracies is one. Time travel is another, although it seems they're much looser with that these days. There are also plot-related ones, eg. A criminal must face consequences in the end etc
