Doing a scim coat of plaster would be your best bet.

Try a DRY SANDER, IT WORKS BEAUTIFULLY! Just DO NOT PRESS HARD on the sander, otherwise you WILL REMOVE subs if the WALL that is supposed to be there. 🫢. Lesson learned! Lol! Spackle fixed it right up though, all is good now. 😁
