I have never done it at home. So I may not be the right person to guide you there. I always got it done in an electric kiln at the studio. Mam firing in kiln will not make jewelry black?
@nehagopinathpillai4 жыл бұрын
Depends, if you add a carbon emanating material will result in a black fired piece. But that would spoil the inside walls of the kiln. Most commonly bisque firing is placing the pieces on the kiln shelves and firing it to approx 900-1000 degrees C for a duration of 8 hours and cooling it for another 8 hours inside the kiln. Think about the vases/pots planters etc that are sold by vendors. They have a true terracotta color. They don't fire it black! :)

What type of clay u use mam polymer clay or sand clay
@nehagopinathpillai4 жыл бұрын
Neither! I use low fire earthen ware clay without grog. Can be used for hands building as well as wheel thrown work. This clay needs to be fired in an electric kiln at approximately 900-1000 degrees C for 8 hours and cooled for another 8 hours gradually in order for it to be usable or durable. This piece has to be fired, only then can it be painted upon.
