Күн бұрын

This is a full acrylic painting tutorial where I will teach you how to paint this dramatic ocean scene of a tall ship lost at sea. This painting was done using only 6 colors! You will need titanium white, mars black, yellow ochre, ultramarine blue, burnt umber, and just a little red for the flag at the top of the ship (I used cadmium red). I used a canvas measuring 24x36" in this tutorial.

I really like the fact that you don't try to sell expensive painting supplies that you really do not need. Its great that you explain everything clearly. Thank you.

At last a tutor who knows how to teach, so grateful, I have spent a lot of money going to art classes where the tutor just walks around chatting about anything other that the job in hand. I like you because you show what to do but leave interpretation to viewer. Thank you.

Absolutely Brilliant!! I haven't painted a picture since primary school and am now retired. I saw this lesson and gave it a go. I thought the worst that can happen is that I wast a bit of time and a dash or two of acrylic paints. It took me a few days with a few adjustments here and there but I got there. It looks brilliant!! I really shocked myself. Thanks so much. Luckily I took pics at different stages as proof to friends that I did do it, all from 1 lesson. It will take some convincing I'm sure. I finished the canvas just minutes ago... Hot off the press.

This is an awesome painting with a great tutorial, I like when we get blood and guts (mistakes), as we are then shown how to fix them and I think it is important for everyone to see this. The re-applying of paint is also a good thing, as we get to see how this is done. Thank You.

Hi, I am watching this for the 2nd time, before I commence my "attempt." I think you are a SUPERLATIVE teacher. And, you should NOT apologize for painting sections "in" and "out"> Even, as I am a beginner, I know that is to be expected. I cannot wait to try this! yeah! THANKS!!! love, m

OMG! You have no idea how informative this was for me! I've seen tutorials where the water was just either flat or beachy. I've always wanted to do something dramatic and now I can. I am an oil painter that's getting ready to try Acrylics for the first time. You've made this transition much easier. I love your videos. Keep em coming! Thank you!

I would love that! Do you reference photos or do these come out of your head?
@PainterInYou
@PainterInYou 7 жыл бұрын
It is a combination of both. I often do look at reference photos, then sort of smash them all together into 1 painting. Sometimes I do paint completely from my imagination, and I actually made a video showing my technique in starting a painting completely from your head (which is surprisingly EASIER sometimes). Check it out here: kzbin.info?o=U&video_id=SnSB_1EGU7U

Great work, particularly tutoring on how to make an ocean look so natural. I must say though, I liked it much better at 1:31 before you defuse it into the night sky. I though the painting had more depth at that point and that the lighting was outstanding.

I am fairly new at painting, and I learned SOOO incredibly much from this tutorial!! Thank you!! Granted the ocean REALLY got away from me and doesn't look anything like yours, I still really love the end result of this painting and I vow to try it again once I've painted a little longer and learned a little more. I really can't wait to try some of your other tutorials, I really am gravitating towards landscapes and nature paintings so I'm so happy I found your channel. I'll be back for more. (And feel free to throw in there once in awhile that your painting is SUPPOSED to look ugly at some point lol ...... I felt a little over my head at times (and I was ... let's face it) but like I said --- the end result speaks for itself, turned out great.
