Dude, love your work. Quick tip for avoiding masking bleed. Hit it with a clear varnish first. This fills the tiny gaps and means you get crispy lines from the colour you apply afterwards. Try it!

The purple basecoat for skin tones works because of color theory. Skin tones are generally orange and yellow, which are opposite purple on the color wheel. Therefore when you mix the two (whether literally or visually), you get brown. The heavier the purple leans into red (the purple used was very pinkish), then the more red will be in the resulting brown tone. I do something similar when I'm painting skeletons/bones, because the purple in the deep recesses ends up looking brown.
@artisans852110 ай бұрын
In "painting" skin using 3D paint programs like Substance Painter, you also take into account the subsurface scatter, which is reddish and blueish, which is pinkish. And painting cars sometimes you use a contrasting underpaint,to make the topcoat "pop".
@keith324827 ай бұрын
I wonder if that is because there is blue/red/purple under actual skin...🤔

great job as always. 5:15 while using a tape, you first need to use the background color first so it fills the small gaps, then the main color. but in your case it is a transparent resin so nothing to do xD

If you want to prevent the “bleed” that makes it under masking tape, you need to paint first with the color that is under the tape, as only the first coat bleeds. So if you are trying to mask a clear part, spray a varnish before you spray your color.

What resin did you use to print this? I'm pretty new to 3d printing I have a Saturn 3 and started out with elegoo 8k, It looks good but with how long it takes to print sometimes I get models warping halfway through. I've also looked up videos comparing 8k and abs like resins and there really doesn't seem to be much difference at all.

A tip for masking with clean edges - Put down the base color. Add the masking tape and paint another thin layer of base color to seal the edges. Paint the contrast color. This way the base color will bleed in under the tape instead of the second color, creating a sharp edge.

Thanks for this video and inspiration. Absolutely love CA 3D models and can't wait to see more from those artists. Coming from armor modelling, all of these colors and flesh tones are new. The tips on flesh colors are brilliant and will help with armor painting minis and for my future print builds. I have discovered that to get the most crisp lines with maskin tape, I do as follow: Paint the whole thing in Color A Mask everything that needs to stay in Color A Paint again with Color A, let it dry Paint with color B While Color B is still wet´ish peel of the tape By painting med with color A right after taping, manu of the gaps between the model and masking tape is closed with Color A, allowing Color B to stay more where it should. I do not know if this already is how you do it, it might be the way the video was clipped, I just wanted to let you know.

Out of all the recordings this one and silk made me want want to purchase and paint. (Also MJ but that might just be the wanting what you can't have effect). You made it look so straight forward. I was wondering if you could recommend a method for achieving an antique, forged, worn look for 3D prints to appear as gold or some other metal. I have seen the hammer forged Rustoleum products but wondered if there was a more painterly way of approaching that. Thanks.

If you’ll spray the tape with intercoat clear before your color, you will have perfect, crisp tape lines. It works on automotive paints so I’m sure it works with those paints.

Hi, congratulations on the beautiful figure you were building. I'm just starting out with the 3D printer. Pinkle 🤣🤣🤣Always a good day when a Grouneffected video drops. Masking tip if you don't know it. When you have masked up, spray the colour that is being masked first. this seals the edge of the tape. Then you spray over the the paint without any bleed through.
@Groundeffected Жыл бұрын
I don’t have a problem with it bleeding dude. It’s the extra paint that dries as a crust over the rose that breaks unevenly when you take the tape off that irritates me
