@Angivel
@Angivel 4 жыл бұрын
Hello Ryan. I want to start by saying you truly are an amazing artist, and a great inspiration. You have a way of making things understandable and easy to apply. My question is, I made a painting of the cherry blossoms, and both me and my girlfriend were happy with it. It goes really well in our kitchen. However, after having seen a post of it, my sister asked to buy it. But we really liked it in our kitchen so I said I'd make another one, as I wanted to see if I had improved any since. I also didn't have the correct colours the first time around, so.. Any way, I made another one after having bought a tube of magenta(I'm not good at blending and mixing colours for the correct shades)Now, a friend just warned me that it could be a copyright infringement on your work should I accept money for it and I hadn't, foolishly, thought about that before, stupid, yes, I know. So my question is, Am I allowed to sell it? I should note a few things. First, upon posting I Do add a link to your video, for credit, secondly, and Obviously, mine don't come anywhere near yours in quality. And lastly, I don't try to Replicate your paintings, I'm not making the same trees with the same branches, or the same moon and clouds, it's more the overall composition.(In one painting I couldn't pull off the mist you did, so I eventually changed it into a creek or river, instead🤣 Having said all that, simply put, am I allowed to take Any compensation, even if only to cover the material cost, or am I solely allowed to gift them away totally free? Again, love your work, and I really don't want to step on your toes in any way. Regardless, thank you for all the inspiration😊

@RyanORourkeArtist
@RyanORourkeArtist 7 жыл бұрын
When I say "square headed brushes" I'm simply referring to any brush with bristles in the shape of a square or rectangle. The more common terminology is a 'flat headed brush', or a 'bright brush'. However, the 'flat' headed brush that I use for the trees doesn't come like that. You need to disrupt the bristles yourself. I hope that helps!

for people who just want to do lots of practice paintings, is paper ok? Or is it better to work just with canvas? Bc I find the paint blends badly and warps paper but I hate wasting canvases on failed first attempts :P
@RyanORourkeArtist
@RyanORourkeArtist 7 жыл бұрын
Haha, I can't stand painting on paper. As you mentioned, it just warps too substantially.. especially with the amount of water I use. I would advise practicing on small cheap canvas..and if you 'mess up' just paint over it and try again, I personally do that a lot :)

While I do occasionally use 5x7 I do believe this one was either 8x10 or maybe 7x9? With that said I wouldn't worry about the size of the canvas. Work with whatever you feel comfortable with.

@RyanORourkeArtist

A sponge or cloth could render a similar effect if you apply the right amount of pressure. However, you can also make an 'old square headed brush' fairly simply by peeling back the bristles on an additional square headed brush :)
