Great tutorial! Did she use some burnt sienna in the background? It looks a bit warmer than burnt umber. I would like to see more ideas for backgrounds. Thank you for all your advice, especially for us beginners!

I love the work that you both do. It's absolutely stunning, and so lifelike. I wish that I was able to capture animals like this. I used to sketch and paint but that was many-many moons ago and I basically lost the ability. Instead I now do pyrography which still gives me a huge amount of enjoyment but I'd love to add some colour to some of the pieces, so I'm taking and absorbing all the tips that you pass on. I follow Amber on instagram also.

Thank you. I am quite new to pet portraits but I feel I have developed my style now. I totally agree with everything you say regarding realism and capturing the essence of the subject. My main problem is with white fur. I find it very difficult to get depth and detail with it making it look like an old worn out duster.. I wonder if you could offer any advice pleases?

I’ve got some videos on painting white fur that explain my thoughts and process better than I can here

using just black straight up .. makes your darks look too flat.. try mixing your black with royal blue or go from very dark brown and add the darkest tones last .
@StudioWildlife4 жыл бұрын
That’s a good idea I usually don’t use black straight out of the tube and leave it as is on the canvas . I find working dark to light then glazing over with the warmer colours later has the same effect as mixing my own warmer or cooler black which suits the way I paint a little bit more than doing the darkest tones last. But it is good advice to mix your own blacks as it looks more natural than using pure black straight out of the tube

@@StudioWildlife just try and avoid plan black it kills paintings like this .. we are on the same page. Its a mistake alot of people make , i do speak from experience and im not being Critical after all we are our own worst critics arnt we ?!! I would love to paint live like this or on a video but i really wouldn't know where to start TBH. Any help or advice is welcome

Hi Joyce, thank you! unfortunately this one was filmed before the patreon channel was made so we don’t have real time footage for it

Did you use any medium to keep your paints from dying so fast?

Just water for this one, we don't really use actual mediums with acrylics.

Its a lovely painting, with a lot of talent used! But I did have to turn off the sound 4min into the video tho... I know there are people out there, just like me... We might not be many, I don’t know... But listening to every single breath of yours, through your whistling nose, gives me anxiety, for real... Please don’t breathe into the microphone, it’s making me cringe so hard! And I’d really like to watch your videos, with sound on! Because you both have great talent that I’d like to learn from!

You should adjust your audio so we don't hear the whine from your breathing and everytime you swallow

This is an old video I cannot adjust the audio now, all of my new videos have been edited
