Hi Michelle and thanks for watching. The photo references I work from are often ones that I have permission to use but not necessarily permission to share. I would suggest that you take a screen shot of the finished painting you see in the video and use that as your reference to paint your piece. I hope that helps ….happy painting to you and I hope you consider subscribing to my channel.

Thanks Abby. I sort of have a love hate relationship with these birds. They are gorgeous but I have also had my water feature cleaned out of fish by these guys Ha ha. Birds gotta eat, right?

Stunning!!! Exactly how long did it take to paint this?
@SuzanneBarrettJustisArtist8 ай бұрын
Hi Judith. Thanks so much! Yes, this painting probably took me 5 days in studio to paint. That’s roughly 26 hours….between students . The background was simplified so it was just really on the bird and the rock. It was a fun piece to paint. Thanks Judith for watching ! Happy Painting

Could you please tell me the paint name(s) you used for the warm grey acrylic background?
@SuzanneBarrettJustisArtist2 ай бұрын
Hi Judith, I used Basics Liquitex paint. I mixed my color by using white, ultramarine blue. And raw umber. I hope that helps. Happy painting

Thank you. Have not painted in oil for over 30 years. I live on a marsh and was looking to paint a marsh bird. After many searches, I chose yours. Excited to get started. I love your work!

What does Linseed Oil do? I’ve never tried it :) Thank you for your knowledge!
@SuzanneBarrettJustisArtist3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tinker. Linseed oil is used to cut down the viscosity of the paint. Thin it down a bit. Kind of like using water in acrylics
@tinkerquinn85803 жыл бұрын
@@SuzanneBarrettJustisArtist will Galkyd help do that too? I know Galkyd speeds up drying time; but does it help thin it down too?

Yes they are!!! Folks have given me all kinds of interesting “treasures “ Over the years. There is a cow skull and coyote skull (death by natural causes) I have used them as references for my students many times.
