Always wanted to see how Berkey made his magic! Great instructional video. One of my absolute favorite artists, his work always blasts me back to the 70's & 80's 😊

An announcement from Rafi studios brought me here. I really enjoyed this! I love painting space as well. The painting this was based on, is on a space atlas I keep by my bed. 😂 So this was an extra special treat.

Nice! Do you (or anyone) attempt this style of painting with watercolor?

Thank you! I’ve tried a few times with watercolor. You can nail the backgrounds but for those exquisite line details you really need something opaque like gouache or casein. I might try with very thick watercolor and ink in the future

Absolutely stunning! Berkey one of my favorite artist ever. Could you recommend paint brushes that's good for drawing the way you did here?

Thank you! I'm using a selection of synthetic brushes for acrylic and none of them are terribly expensive. I don't have a single brand that I can recommend, but I try to go a step up from the bulk-priced value packs offered in many stores (although I freely admit one of the smallest brushes in this video was from a value pack. It was nearby when I needed it). A decent #10 round, a couple of liner brushes, Filberts and Flats are mostly what I have one hand.
