Aight, getting some common comments. Unfortunately I didn't use a spray gun, because I didn't have one, and thought the blackness would mend that at the time. With sanding and priming and stuff, yep, I've painted a heap of boards before. As for the water, they say on the product page itself that you can dilute it. However I did experiment with different mixtures, and in the end for the final coat I actually didn't use water at all. However there was no noticeable difference which was interesting. And most importantly, it was just for fun, and just for me. As I can't put a clear coat over it, it's not something I will use. I'm well aware of all your concerns, so yeh, hope that explains a bit! 🥰🥰🥰

@@bananya6020 Oh, it's a bit difficult to explain in a single comment.. So bare with me, I'll give the short version (which won't have all the details): Some company makes the *blackest black paint* in the world, called 'Vantablack'. Then there's this artist Anish Kapoor (most famous for creating the 'Cloud Gate' in Chicago, better known as a statue called 'The Bean'), he buys the exclusive rights to use Vantablack. No one else can use it! Then there is this other artist called Stuart Semple, who was not happy with this. I am unsure what the exact course of events was, but long story short he (and probably people who liked the idea) makes a bunch of Facebook events, that are like 'Kiss the Bean' and such (remember 'the bean'? Anish Kapoor's artwork). Now the backstory is kind of over (but seriously, read up more on this story if you like), onto my meme comment. Stuart Semple also made a paint of his own, which he sold on his website. But on this product page he specifically says this paint is "available to everyone except Anish Kapoor!". You have to also confirm this when checking it out. So long story short; some dude (Kapoor) makes it so some black paint is exclusive for him, people aren't happy, start trolling, someone makes a pinkest pink and anyone except for Kapoor can buy it. That was what my reference was all about. _Keep in mind I just wrote this story from memory, so may have gotten some details and orders of events wrong_

If you gonna paint anything with acrylic-paint, I highly recommend using a make-up sponge rather a paint-brush. It paints the surface more evenly.

I recently got the DNA65 keyboard and the top part of the case is see through acrylic and i wanted to paint it with matte black. Is it possible to do that? I've had good results on other surfaces by coarse sanding (80-40 grit) first. The physical roughness seems to really help, which makes sense since Vanta and other "super blacks" rely on nano-scale structure to trap light. In my own testing, I got way better results on a roughed surface even with the old Black 2 compared to Black 3 on glass or polished metal.

I don't know how to feel about that typing sound, but this is a very cool project! I love to see people use Stuart Semple's products, since they're very good quality paints and pigments for the price. I swear $22 is not that bad for a whole 150ml, especially compared to other quality paints. That much would last a normal person a really long time, assuming they even use it consistently. Edit: No idea why I was unsure about the sound. That's really good.

Yes, but you might have to dilute the paint so much to get it to spray that you would need a huge number of coats to get anywhere near darker-than-ordinary-black-paint.

Salvador Macias Yes, I have done automotive painting and you never use a brush, use a spray gun or airbrush, don’t be afraid to go on light and just apply multiple coats. It’s better than going on way to heavy at first and the finish won’t be the same.

@@dstarr3 Not really, for this size of a project all you need is a small cheap 20Oz spray gun. For the sake of practicality not professionalism. The paint looks pretty viscous coming out compared to some other acrylics but still a little thick for this. With that bottle you could pour 2 Oz with .5 or less of water and get a nice first coat. It will go fast but you can manage it with small controlled bursts and with a lower than normal psi of about 25-28. Again it might be waste unless you want to do something bigger than this keyboard yuse the whole bottle and experiment with a 4:1 ratio.
