I went into this pair without a clear idea of what I was aiming for, so you can see I tried a lot of things before they were suddenly finished. I used 3 different types of squeegee, it's a sponge squeegee at 2:00.
Check out the finished pair: media/set/?set=a.837770126289501.1073741831.752162948183553

+Brian Phillips -New that's a laugh Gerhard Richter is the master of this technique using oil paint and squeegee, that's why his paintings sell for 1/2 a million and up and are represented in all the major museums on the planet. Good luck and have fun anyway maybe you will find your own style one day.

Interesting I found this without looking for it. I tried using squeegies but I end up with what looks like fabric without any real focal point to the painting. It has texture, but I am looking for interest and a place for the eyes to rest on which is usually missing.

Good afternoon! Can you tell me what kind of ruler you use to make your abstract works? Is there a place where you can buy it ready, or do we have to make one? Thank you very much in advance. Carlúcio Bicudo

no one owns the scraper technique, just like no one owns the paint brush technique!
@elflaco6654
@elflaco6654 8 жыл бұрын
junetee52- I really hope you know art history... It's in the concept and the way it's used that's similar to Gerhard Richter. Sure no one owns a technique besides originality from which ideas come from that are absolute. These paintings lack originality that's all. As artist many questions are faced such as who is the artist audience? What is the artist saying through his/her work? Anything new and exciting or different or rehashing what has already been done? Maybe a new technique that has never been seen or done before. In another form of art such as music say a band looks and plays like Nirvana same style, technique etc. they will lack originality and be a cover band, copying the original for some it's not important and that's cool just have fun. For artist what is important is to know your place, and your arts place in the world.

He seems to have his own style about it. We have to use work from the past to not only pay homage, but to keep it alive and evolve it. And ultimately if it feels good and resonates with people, it's doing its job. :)
