Just finished a painting and had to it at least 3 times until it was right. I'm not a pro as you are I've only been painting for 6 years. I am self taught but with so much help from tutorials to advance myself as an artist. I have sold 10 paintings thanks to artists like you, who share their talents. Everyone is self taught in painting and at the same time we all teach each other unless you live in a remote place as a hermit who never went to school or a gallery or library and has no internet. If you go and study art at a formal educational institution they teach you art history and theory and give you access to studios and equipment and you will have to meet assignment briefs and be assessed on whether you are meeting the criteria. In addition you will be part of group crit sessions. But no one stands by your side teaching you how to draw or paint. You can get as much advice from a workshop or video.
