Painting a Sugar Skull Cat | Rocktastic Arts

I found this awesome Kitty Sugar Skull at Michaels and decided to try painting it. It is Day of the Dead in 3 days, so it was perfect timing. The Kitty is made of Gypsum just like the art rocks I make at home. It was made using a mold, so basically it is a rock in the rock painting world lol. I wanted to make a rainbow design on it inspired by Moriah Elizabeth. My kids love watching Moriah Elizabeth on KZbin, if you haven’t seen her, you need to, she is truly very talented. She loves painting rainbows, so I wanted to give it a try… I love how it turned out, but blending the different layers took around 9 hours. Next time I will remember to make rainbows on smaller items because this took forever lol. I then dared myself to use a brush instead of a paint brush to do all the detail lines using rose gold paint. I didn’t know I can be this precise in painting :)
Then of course it needed some tiny dots in black to make it pop. I had so much fun doing this, but honestly it was exhausting :)
If I’m going to call this a rock, then technically it is the largest rock I have ever painted ;)
